Skimmed it, but unless I missed it, it was just a formal report complaining that council hasn't addressed the issue and asking them to? Again.

Googled what comparative noises and distances are which produce 70dB and it's things like, watching TV or listening to a radio at "average" volume in an average room, shower, dishwasher.

I find it hard to believe that sound from a 95dB exhaust travels more than 100metres and gets recorded at 70dB (I believe the nearest house is the one just before the main gate?) during daytime.

This reminds me of a story someone told me that because a few people bitched about how apparently noisy the CityCat is at speed, they reduced their top speed years ago.

What I fail to understand is why do the residents have priority when the track was built before any houses AFAIK.

I think this is simply a case of sour grapes and schadenfreude, "If I can't have fun, then I won't let you have fun"

Does the new management at Wakefield Park have anything to do with Lakeside?

The reason I ask is that WP, as far as I understand, will be grouping it's private practice days in 2016 into road registered and non road registered cars on different days.

You would think that had something to do with insurance but then "yet to be announced" noise levels are briefly mentioned and it appeared you could possibly run a non road registered car with road registered cars if it met noise limits.

Could this be a possible case of noise management/averaging?

Anyone know if noise will be a factor in track management decisions in 2016?

You want top let the neighbours know how dedicated you are, getting up extra early on the weekend to mow the lawn.....

In an open field, sound levels drop by 6dB per doubling of distance - meaning it isn't a linear reduction, and so by the time you are 4 times away from the source, the sound has lost of lot of volume. I'd doubt the sound level is the annoying factor of living nearby. It would be no louder than the local magpie in the tree (the black white variety, not the red bearded one with a blue modded mx5).

A household appliance with a 75dB noise emission compared to a 70dB level for Lakeside at a distance sums it all up.

It is a pity noise measurements have not taken place for Lakeside as once within the 70dB distant measurement the tables could be turned on this serial complainer as they could be making more noise themselves with things like movers,trimmers,and blowers than what is coming across the paddock from Lakeside Park.

Incidentally I have an electrical blower which says 102dB noise emission.

Steampunk nailed it - the resident was just complaining the council didn't monitor noise levels when asked to. The track is most likely under noise limits, given their self monitoring.

As to the resident, eh, whatever. I got enough of my baggage without worrying about other people's.

A few years back when Lakeside re-opened a caller rang 4BC and complained that when he bought his home in 1993, repeat 1993, he was told it would NEVER re-open

1993? I did a defensive driving course there in 1999 and the same day Mark Larkham was testing the Mitre 10 Falcon

They were still running ATC/V8 Supercars there in 98/99 at least

The track split open mid-race during the touring cars in 1998, that was their last year there. After that the track wasn't on the calendar anymore, and incidentally the name changed to the V8SCs in 1999 too. National meetings still ran until July 2001, the track closed later that year.

Touring cars were run in 2000, I supported the Supertourers at the July meeting for my first ever time at Lakeside and tried my best to emulate Thomas Mazera and Steven Richards with a great effort under the bridge in the wet on the Saturday......

There are other touring cars besides the V8 dinosaurs.....

The same thing happened to Claremont Speedway, people bought cheap houses near the Speedway/Show grounds. House prices went up more and more people moving into the area complained about the noise. On the flip side the government invested in a new sprint car track further out of Perth.
