7-8 November, Noosa "The Hill" Hillclimb 2015

Postby The American » Wed Aug 05, 2015 11:35 pm

Noosa "The Hill"

The next Noosa Hillclimb is scheduled for 7th and 8th November. It would be great to see a few Mx5's join the competition on a section of road that suits light and nimble cars like ours. Entries are not open yet, but they will be in the next few weeks.

Once open, entry details will be here:http://www.noosacarclub.com.au/event-detail__quot_the_hill_quot_noosa_hill_climb_52.htm

This is a clip from one of my runs at the July mid-year event:

If you plan to spectate only, there are some good vantage points along the track where you can see a corner or two from one spot. With 2-3 cars on the track at once, the action flows quickly.

There are currently (still only?!) three Mx5s entered in this event, and you can see the rest of the current entries (and perhaps enter yourself at http://www.meecamsau.com

There's an NA, and NB and and NC entered, so we clearly need to find an ND to complete the picture!

Entry is $240 for the two day event

Here's an idea of what you could expect

Very good! The pit area at Noosa is quite close to the start line, and so there's a lot more opportunity to wander around for a chat and to look at people's machines and then watch them launch from the start line (compared to Cootha Classic).

...and (IMO) the track itself is also very interesting to drive

You will indeed!

At the rate I'm going, Noosa will be my last outing for the year, and then our new arrival in January might put a brake on things. I think I 'need' to acquire a trailer so that the rest of my 'pit crew' can come with me to events.

Fun, the scrutineering is on the Friday so need to sneak away from work and get to Noosa in time to have the car/documents checked.

I'm glad that The American and I are in different classes.

At the last event, a 1960 MGA dríven by Antoinette Redhead was a several seconds quicker than my best time - A small naturally aspirated car, being dríven well. Her best time placed her right in the middle of the field for all-wheel-drive forced induction class (for pace).

Corners a pretty good equalisers!

What's this one like for spectators?
Seems fairly heavily wooded from the pics I can find.
