Anyone thinking of going out? I'm looking at it and was wondering if anyone is feeling like a cheap blast around Lakeside?

http://qldraceways.com.au/sprints-getting-started

Round 1 of the Lakeside Park Street Sprints are on next Sunday, February 1.

Combine it with a General Practice session and you are in for a Super Sunday!

$200 will get you a full day at the track!

or you can choose between the General Practice at $120 or the Street Sprints for $145

General practice kicks off from 9.30am and runs through to 12.30pm and from 1pm - 4pm it is time to get down to business with the Street Sprints, setting a new personal best and getting on the points board.

Sounds like a good option but I'll be headed to the dirt for the IWMAC come and try day. You should come to that, it's great for find out out how the car reacts at and past the limit and is only $40 :)

So same as low level cams event. Secured battery with plastic cover over the positive (can be tape) blue triangle to indicate the battery (can be tape) AS or better helmet. Standard seat and belt ok. No cage / roll bar required.

Track is a sand / clay mix that is grippy enough to cause tire squeal when dry and rubbered up or very fun when wet.

Don't bash cones and be at a reasonable ride heigh and your paint will be ok but some people bubble wrap the sills.

Come and try is very casual with no timing. But normally you get lots of laps. Awesome way to learn about understeer / oversteer, snappy car behaviour, throttle control, etc.

I'll be at LS and hope the car works for a change. There will be at least three other MX5s at LS. I'd love to do the dirt sprint come and try as I really enjoyed it last year but the dates clash. Aiming to the first autocross on the 22nd.
The season starts :D

I'm thinking of just popping out for the arvo sprints and arrive around 12pm for the sprints - are you going for the entire day?

Hey Nick-Is the scrutineering at the IWAC event very formal (meaning with the event programmed to start from 12.00PM, when is the 'scrutineering' likely to be)? Hmm-to explain:-
I Can't wait till April to get back to LS and guess I've been wanting to get 'dirty' with the 'Turbonator' as well, so how feasible to do BOTH the L.S. Gen P'tice session in the morning, & (Googlemaps says abt 1hr 20mins on M1/M2 about noon time) start about 1300 at QR. if limiting the LS session to only a couple of hrs?
The car's a bit 'off' tune wise atm, and won't be rectified till I get a couple of bits fitted next week, so just a handling experiment at LS, and being down a little on pwr shouldn't detract from the experience of my 1st DIRT outing with it, you think:-?

Previous come n try events haven't been very formal no. You'd probably get some to scruit you even if you turned up late.

I have done a few super Sundays at lakeside before G, they're awesome value for money. I have done easily 60+ laps. I'll be going to the Come N Try day though as the gf is hopefully taking out her car ( and it's faster than mine :().

For those interested in the IWMAC Come N Try day, some more details are below.

Time: 11.30am
Cost will be $40 + $25 for a CAMS day license, however the CAMS license cost comes off the price of a full license if they choose to continue. CAMS 2S license is $110 IIRC.

Any helmet complying with AS1698 is fine. You'll need the normal safety gear (long sleeves, pants, closed in shoes) and the cars will go through scrutineering, so please grab a CTP extension for registered cars (event name is 'IWMAC Come and Try').

Generally the cars require a fire extinguisher, but I know for a fact last year they let a number of cars run without one as it was a come and try day and comes under a non-speed event. Some electrical tape will suffice for battery triangles.

So the usual suspects. I guess three more NBs at least, one white one blue and a green one. We should try to group in the garages east of the canteen. It's supposed to get warm again.
Nice

I'll be going out in my Silver NA8 for the sprint racing and plan to be at the pits around 11:45ish.... hopefully I'll find a spot near the other MX5s under the shade !!

That's early enough yeah? Driving briefing at 12:30 and on track at 1pm... so hope so...
