Doing this nice and early!
I have made the decision (after talking to Danny) on Saturday that I'm going to try and compete in the WTAC 2015. Danny's enthusiasm about the atmosphere at WTAC 2014 convinced me it was worthy of being on a bucket list.
Plan is to compete in the Clubsprint class so the car will be modified to meet those rules. Plus I will need to get a few visits in to NSW to get some experience on the track and see if my times will be worthy of entering.
Any others from Queensland thinking of making the trip either competing or watching? If we plan early enough there could be a forum meet up

Mark, looking at the times, my old Zed would be competitive as it did 1:49's on the old circuit. New circuit would be at least a second quicker with the extra width at turns 5 and 9 and the removal of the old turn 6.
And last time I raced at EC I was passed by 2F MX5's with number plates.
If you want trophies you need to be in the very low '40's or into the 30's.

No trophies, just a T Shirt will do.

Next Years Clubsprint RWD benchmark will likely be BYP Entry 500+ rwkw Twincharged K24 S2000
it's still Clubsprint but running on 295/30 R18. WTAC is 100% a tyre event bring 4 fresh sets
dial them in during the day and you will get your PB.
Realistically a 1:50 would put you at the back of the field but not dead last.
Very Few First Gens can manage a time under 1:55 at Eastern Creek, and on Street Tyres
and at 95% OEM weight I would say zero.
Remember for Clubsprint you have to back to a Neova AD08 street tyre big compromise
for all the other track events of the year, and your NA8 needs it's full interior, glass etc put back in.
"Minimum weight for Clubsprint will be determined by the manufacturer's original specifications for
the lightest version of that particular model of vehicle, minus 5%" they do weigh the cars.
So short version Mark you will need to spend good money and time to make your car slower to come about dead last.
Just come for 3 track days at SMP and a Supersprint as is, will be more competitive you won't be the only MX5 there
so you have a benchmark, and it will be way cheaper.

Re: WTAC 2015 - Queensland people going
Oztrackdays thanks. I have to do some mods to get it into another class for Time Attack in Queensland so I have to make the changes anyway, this includes replacing OEM glass (already done).
Tyres, well once they announce what they are using I will switch and get used to them. Yes track time in NSW is on the cards. Hopefully we will get to meet.
