SDT Morgan Park Trackday 30th November
As some of you know I do some part time driver training with SDT. They are having their last track day at Morgan Park on the 30th November. Here is the information about the day, Track day Info.
Usually the price is $253 per person using your own car, for the forum, I can get a discounted price of $220 per person using their own car.
We can run in either a morning or afternoon session. The 4 hours includes a couple of exercises to get your eye in and also to practice some techniques and get some instruction from experienced racers, depending on availability, can include David Russell (Porsche cup and Nissan V8's), Nick Foster (Porsche Cup), Chris O'Shannesy (Sepang 12 hour). You get plenty of track time to do laps of a couple of track configurations.
A few from the forums have done these days before and have enjoyed them and learnt a lot to improve their driving, both on the track and on the road. I still learn something every time I go out in a car on the track and take advantage of the tuition available from top drivers.
Would there be enough interest from the forum for me to look at blocking out a group?
I would recommend the morning session, yes it's an early start, but you will be home mid afternoon.
If you are interested in attending I would need to know sooner than later so I can make sure that we can attend in the one group as numbers are limited for these days.

Looks like I will be home.... Morning session! So now work on my car during the dodgy day on 29/11/14. I could not have planned this any better.
I have so wanted to do Morgan Park since the build!

Any interest in this apart from Magpie???
It is a great morning and you will learn a lot with the chance to get tuition from top racing drivers as well as stretch the legs of your car at a different and challenging track.

I won't be able to swing it this time, but this is something I'd be interested in trying in the New Year if another opportunity pops up.

Just had a quick look at the last Morgan Park 27/07/13 and as a 1.6 (Auto ECU) I got 1:24.30.

To all who are thinking about this event...
I did a similar event at Morgan Park a couple of years ago. I thoroughly recommend this. You'll get some good tuition, meet a few like minded souls, and get to have a pretty good go at some of the shorter Morgan Park combinations. You won't believe how tight parts of it are. It's a hoot.
I would note however:
1. If the instructors think you are pretty competent, you will have to ask for attention (my perception only)
2. Watch out for PC plod on the way up Cunningham's Gap, and through to Warwick. The Warwick district police have a reputation for being "enthusiastic".

Re: SDT Morgan Park Trackday 30th November
So for those keen to attend this day I need to know numbers pretty quickly so I can get us booked in.
I will be there on the day as an Instructor.
If you can let me know this week, or next monday at the track day at the latest that would be appreciated. I can then make sure all the MX5's are in the one group.

Re: SDT Morgan Park Trackday 30th November
adidistyle I have to agree on your point 1, however as you pointed out you just need to be a little more forward in asking.
on Point 2 there is a reason I trailer my car through the gap, too much of a temptation to enjoy the corners...
To the others thinking about this it is a great learning experience.
I'm happy to offer overnight accommodation as the dodgy day is on the day before this and I'm about 5 mins off the road to Warwick near Yamanto. Decent coffee and a cooked breakfast included

Re: SDT Morgan Park Trackday 30th November
So apart from Magpie any one else wanting to attend this day???
I know it's late in the year, bt still a great opportunity to get some tuition ready for next year. Nothing beats some one on training to improve your driving, both track and road.
Either PM here or come and talk to me on Monday at the track day if you are keen to come along.
