Just watched a segment on Channel 7 regarding the old 'Bullens Lion Park' and also about the proposed $Billion precinct in the canefields between Brisbane and the Gold Coast - track around 6km to suit F1 cars etc

Plans will be presented to the Government early next year

Sounds good!

This is on Paul Stokell's website Due to noise restrictions, track days can no longer be held at Norwell.

So I wonder if this track proposal will suffer the same fate?

That's a local council thing, there are about 3 houses within 5km of the driver training centre at Norwell, yet for some reason they recently lowered the noise limit to be 75dB measured from the road, instead of the 95dB from the road that it was set at previously. Their lawn mowers now break the noise limit for cars on track. Ridiculous. If a different local council covers the proposed area, it might go differently.

hope not, Australia needs a dedicated world class track, I love Bathurst and phillip island, but a circuit that could host all classes of international racing would be great

Fingers crossed Id love to have a race track so close to home :D but I have my doubts. I was really surprised at the low noise restriction now at the Norwell track first I heard was when Top Gear got denied to use the track to race a v8 supercar around there. Pathetic!

I work out there trust me when I say there is more noise to worry about then cars racing around on a track once a week or month etc. Im sure they would much rather put up with some noise from a race track with people enjoying their passion in a safe and legal manner rather then people racing around their roads using that as a race track.

Norwell is a perfect place to have a race track IMO. Fingers crossed!!!

Agree totally - my Victa lawnmower is 75dB!! When Darlington Park was proposed on the site of the old Lions Park at Yatala, again it was the residents that poo-poo'd it - now an industrial estate when it could have challenged Bathurst!!

Darlington Park was great fun!! I did a track day there in my NA with the MX5 club in 2000... My first time on the track and had a ball!

Fingers crossed that this new plan gets up! :D

I never got the chance to see it but I always thought it would be a real thing! Lots rated it as similar to Bathurst and I wonder was that something to do with both Stone Brothers Racing and DJR locating very close?

Did a tyre test day at Darlington with TOYO a few years ago. Very narrow in places with a few trees too close, but it flowed very well....... ;)
