On Saturday 19 May, there is a Come and Try/Test and Tune day.
The Come and Try morning is for people who have never run at the hillclimb but would like to have a try under the guidance of experienced drivers. Numbers are restricted for this so pre-registration is necessary. You can register by contacting Gary Goulding by email to gsgoulding@optusnet.com.au or by mobile 0438 104 231.
The Test and Tune - for those wanting practice before the MG and sports car hillclimb and the Queensland Hillclimb Championships will begin at 11am. Pre-registration is available and preferred but is not essential for the Test and Tune.
On 27th May, the annual hillclimb which focusses on sports cars will be held. While other categories of cars are invited to enter, they are not eligible for Fastest Time of Day. Closing date for entries is 17 May.
If you have any enquiries please contact David Robinson at robo25@bigpond.net.au.

I will be attending the Come and Try session. I hope there are some other MX5s there. If not I will have a good time without you.
The conditions are not as onerous as the CAMS regs suggest.
Membership of a CAMS affiliated club is not required, though you do need a day license @ $25, which is deducted if you advance to a CAMS competition license.
Safety gear requirements are similar to trackdays ie non synthetic neck-ankle-wrist clothing, non-synthetic shoes, approved helmet (full face for MX5s).
Cotton drill or denim is quite acceptable. On the weekend, I saw plenty of guys at the Oakey Sprints in Overalls or King Geetype clothing. Plenty of race suits too.
Fire Extinguisher and CTP extension are also required.
Gloves are optional.
Your car gets scrutineered but this is pretty basic. I have been told is it very unlikely that I would get knocked back for this event if I did not have double throttle return springs. It is really intended for street registered cars.
Gary indicated you could get up to six or seven runs + tutoring depending on numbers.
I am aiming for the Noosa Hillclimb in July, some motorkhana, and maybe some dirt sprints, so I think this is a good kick of point for CAMS events.
Cheers all,
Adam

PS: The MGCCQ Supp regs say entries are limited to 25.
Gary's email to me last night stated there were 15 spots remaining, if that makes any difference to anyone.
