Roger, so that's what the lumps were coming onto the straight for the last session........ At least whoever cleaned up the ducks were on the correct line   Made it interesting to get through the corner when you are trying to get the most out of the car in 4th for the run onto the track.

Great day for me, got down to a 66.35. so only a another 4 tenths to get into the 65's, not bad for a standard 1600 short nose crank motor that has never been opened with 221,000 km on the clock.

Again Adam plus John and all involved in organising the day a big thanks for a job well done, near enough to 55 laps and 50 odd litres of BP's finest through the car and I am flogged.

When I left there was a lady doing lollipop duties for that family of ducks.

Yeah, that was me... someone suggested I rename Moxxi to "Daffy Killer" after that...

I saw them coming into the corner and just hoped they'd get out of the way - couldn't exactly go anywhere else, could I! Better to hit them than the wall I suppose, but I still feel bad about the poor things.

Good to hear I was on the right line though, that's a first! :D
Because reasons.

You took the only available option Matty, I felt bad as well because their view was better from where they were and no spectator seating on the other side!

My question is why they were there in the first place! Bit of a way from the water...
Because reasons.

Basically, unless it is safe to do so, you don't swerve to miss animals. Brake as hard as is safe to hopefully miss them, or have the slowest and safest collision with the animal.

So far in my professional driving life, I have hit two roos in the one go, killed one, a cow, various bird strikes from sparrows and finches up to kookaburras and one near hit with a wedge tailed eagle that was scary, plenty of reptiles that were sunning themselves on the bitumen, a couple of sheep, and the odd rabbit. Surprisingly I haven't ever hit a dog, yet have been doing plenty of urban surveys where dogs were chasing the ute.
