OK I'm ready!
Will get there round 9.00a, dependent on traffic, sometimes it can take 3 hours and I don't use the Gateway as always at a standstill most mornings and no way you can turn back

The traffic down the Bruce to Pine Rivers in just hidious from 5am - 8.30am plus, I could detour via Esk but WTF i'm used to going that way - grab a coffee around 7am and then there 9-9.30am so time to be set up and relax

Thanks Magpie for the offer - prefer to do my 'normal' ad get there, get set up and then sit back, walk up and down pit lane and check the cars and see how everyone is

Looking like rain here now, it's been raining at Pt Lookout a short while ago

Awesome day - great weather - thanks guys.
My ears are still ringing fro m beinmg overtaken by Danny down DJ Straight
The Nitto Tyres made a substantial diferance.
Managed some PBs, but lacked a bit of confidence on the Sportsman and National with a damp T2 and sun in the eys there also.
Times from;
QRClubman 1:05.43 / QR Sprint 1:01.87 / QR Sportsman 1:04.27 / QR National 1:30.43
to
QRClubman 1:04.61 / QR Sprint 1:00.81 / QR Sportsman 1:06.9 !!! / QR National 1:28.36
Good to see everyone was safe with no major offs.

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD-TRACK DAY - QR - 25 MAY 15
Great fun day today. Perfect weather except for the brief shower toward the end, low air temp but warm enough track surface.
What did we all think of running 3 groups and 7 laps? Personally I felt that it didn't leave a lot of time between sessions, and I ended up skipping the second sprint session to take a break. On top of that, an empty track is better for safe, fast laps than having groups where the time difference between first and last is 15 seconds/lap. We have had 9-10 sessions in an afternoon before at qr, so it doesn't appear that running 3 groups gained too much in the way of extra sessions.
I ended up improving my clubman time by 1.1 seconds to 65.9, and my sprint time by 1.1 seconds also, down to 62.4. Pretty happy with those results.

Agree 3 groups did not leave enough time between runs. I sat out 2 runs as well.
Thanks also to the QR staff and Doug for taking Jaye out on the track.

First, I have to now learn to count to 7!!
Thanks Adam, Doug, Barb & Bob [starter] plus the QR inside Staff for a fantastic day!! I had a great time, getting slower faster and aging even faster than that!
Well done to all that managed PB's as well!
Great to see Danny getting some quality seat time in the NC and also happty to see Robyn Lacey and Steve McLellan bring their NB race cars out along with Brian with his black beast
Zoe, I have no idea now how to catch you! But hell it's fun chasing you down
Well done also to Brad in the RX8, great effort mate
Travelled back north with Mark thru the city and 1hr 18mins we arrive at the BP North at Burpengary and waited to be joined by Adam with his trailer load of tyres etc behind the track car - enjoyed coffee etc for maybe 90 mins and now just home
Whatever happened at Ebenezer just on leaving QR I do hope all are OK, figured after passing the scene something must have happened when 2 x Police and 2 x Fire Engines were headed that way has we passed thru Willowbank Village
THANKS ALL FOR A GREAT DAY!!

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD-TRACK DAY - QR - 25 MAY 15
I turned up in a bit of a weird headspace (bit on at work and home at the moment), and managed a slight off the very first corner of the first flying lap of the first session. Settled down for the next couple of sessions for some really good solid work and managed a big PB on the Clubman circuit, managing to slip under 1:10 for a 1:09.5198 (hint - the key is where you are in the second part of the dipper) compared to a touch over 1:12 previously.
Seemed to lose focus a bit after that and got within a couple of tenths of my PB on the Sprint, found a second or so on what I thought was a pretty soft time on the Sportsman (was only just getting a handle on the quite complex section at the bottom there) and ran the National for the first time, a fairly epic spin on turn 2 (my first in 25 years...) seeing me give it a away about halfway through.
I didn't feel the shower made much difference to grip levels.
Really pleased with the DBA T3/T2 brakes, which although a little smelly later in the day presented the same pedal after repeated smacks at 160 km/h down the back - to be honest, it was these later runs I had in mind when I decided on them.
On the sessions, I was seeing temperature rises late in some of the sessions, and did feel a little pressured with turn arounds particularly when I wanted to do tyre swaps, and the higher number of cars was a little problematic. Still, seven sessions of seven laps, plus 10 minutes on the National...
Anyway, here's a short video of some of my dumber moments today...
