Street tyres = not much grip. Everything else is good.

Heading home on a truck, fifth lap motor started sounding like it had a child with a hammer trapped in. Oil and fluids all fine. Details to come.

Oh yeah, did manage to catch this before breaking down.

No NA's were harmed in the making of this video.

Damn, I hoped nobody had gotten that, came in way too quickly and braked too late. Aside from that little excursion I had an absolute blast today, walked away with a pb of 1.08.29. Many thanks go to all those who organised I will be back at it without a doubt next year

I did roll well out of the throttle to let him past there, wanted to leave plenty of space and a clean line for him through the kink, and make sure I was clear to get back on the line. Also, apparently my motor was dying.

i heard that from behind the pits.one lap it was bit of a clatter when you backed off .next lap a consistent clatter ..next lap like a lost big end .
we didn't see any smoke or anything, just clatter...hopefully just your CAT or MUFFLER with loose guts.

Huge thanks to Adam, JBT, Murray and the band of hard working people who handle the paperwork, also special thanks to Doug. Neil, Barb, Shaun and all the other QR Staff for the wonderful organisation and not to forget the guy who kept us fed from the canteen and the fact that QR supplied FREE bottles of cold water to kjeep us hydrated

Congratulations to Patrick and Peter from the NSW MX5 Club along with Peter's son Tom for turning in excellent laps times!!

A few special notes for a couple of people that amazed with their lap times, Michael [Nixon] for a 1:08 on his first time out and Zoe in her immaculate red 86 for improving around 23-24 seconds a lap since her last time at LP back last July - Zoe well done! [PS Michael: That was what I call an 'off' !!]

Sorry to see engine problems Craig [Vat], something you wouldn't really expect from an NB really - as for your comment on the NA's unfortunately on my last run and following Zoe and watching her lines a line of ducks decided to cross the track!!

As for me? No PB but today i got my kicks from seeing so many attend and also the huge number of newcomers.

Thanks also for the support from the 86/BRZ Club with fibe [5] attending - well done guys!!

Mechanic had a listen to it this afternoon, suspicion is a gudgeon pin/little end bearing in number 3 cylinder. Having a little think on it this afternoon I think the gudgeon pin has been sticky for a while - it's been feeling like the battery's been struggling to turn the motor over first thing in the morning but once warm it's been fine, and this behaviour's been exaggerated with the current problem. Idling hasn't been fantastic, either.

I've already been in touch with Automotive Plus and I suspect we'll probably end up swapping a second hand Japanese motor in and doing the clutch at the same time. Could have done without the bill though!

Disappointing, but if you're running a 194k old motor these things happen, especially when you're happy to rev them out.

I'd also like to echo the thanks to the club for the excellent organsation, particularly the pre-event walk around for the newbies which gave valuable insight into what is a tricky track, and for me a little daunting.

Thanks to everyone for their advice and concern post-breakdown, too. Hadn't taken the cam cover off an MX-5 before, so thanks for the assistance there.

Cheers to Doug for the tow, too.
