Walk? wish I could after doing a 'Torville & Dean' outside Moronfield Shopping Centre on wet slippery white lining on a pedestrian crossing :(

Rog - bring me a medium long black with an extra shot and I'll happily escort you around! Hope it clears up for Monday ad you're good to go.

Group 2 of 4! A lot of fast guys away, I guess. Looking forward to resuming last trip to Lakeside's battles, especially with gslender, hopefully you can drag me through to a sub 67...

Little fella's in the driveway with his war wheels on, dodgy homebake aero's been installed. Can't wait!

It was worth it for the sound. Thanks for the report on the dirt day - will have to find some time to get to one of those.

Home from a very full day of running at Lakeside - I did 10 runs and gave it away a bit after 3, and a lot of guys were running on fumes. Just a couple of pretty minor incidents (I think someone did a tyre wall rearrangement up at the Eastern Loop but drove off) so very few delays.

I had a new larger radiator in so I could maximise my running, plus some homebake aero (cheap front flexible lip, and small rear boot lip strip type spoiler) that cost me less than $100. Goal today was to do as much running as I could and hopefully sneak into the 66's.

I was into the low 67's pretty much right off the bat, close to PB pace despite hitting a magpie on the run down to the last turn in the first session, which lay on the track through the rest of the day as a reminder. I reduced tyre pressures through the morning and made minor adjustments to the coilovers (just softening them a touch), but to no avail - seemed stuck at 67.26 - 67.5, and got the distinct impression the track was getting slower, so whilst I was improving, the grip was going away.

Had some cloud over the track at lunch, tyres cooled off a little, and just had a two lap window chasing two other guys where the car felt perfect, running a 67.0009 and a 66.5650. Heat got into the Federals after that and I knew I probably couldn't get near that time again. Put in a brain-fart roof down session that I really must stop doing.

So, got my time, car ran like a train all meeting. Good times!

As usual, great day, thanks to Adam and Grant plus the QR/Lakeside team for a smooth, busy meeting.

Got some videos to put up, will post later.

I was going to run with a Collingwood supporter joke, but I do feel quite bad about it - hate hitting birds and animals (well, maybe not starlings or brown snakes). He appeared from the left of the track and just jumped across on to the track in front of me. I saw him coming and thought "no, no, no, not now mate...." bomp.

Also did an interesting experiment and took the front shock tower brace off late in the morning (thanks Steampunk!). Confirmed my thoughts that it does isolate the steering from bumps - I can probably refine my theory a bit and suggest that it's isolating the steering from front scuttle shake. In a couple of instances where the car was loaded up (e.g. exit of Karussell) I was getting quite a bit of loading and kick back through the wheel. You could argue there's a bit more feedback but it's definitely different and more loaded.

I did my time without the brace so that pretty much verifies everyone's thinking that they do nothing on the track, but I'll be putting it back on for road use, purely for refinement.

As one of the new guys out - that was a great run day. Really good job the guys from the club - and its really come a long way since I was last a member.
I took off after lunch as I had to do the school run (and didn't realise I left my number on the side until I parked it at the school!!) - but had a great time. Happy with the cars first outing since the rebuild, and looking forward to the next one.

Personally - lacked a bit of confidence in the handling in places... very skatey out of the carousel and through hungry at times... especially when it got hotter. But we'll get there!

a magpie.... which lay on the track through the rest of the day

Until Stan drove over it. And through up a huge cloud of feathers, deluging the following car. Looked pretty funny from where I sat.

Really good day. So much track time, especially for the price. No major incidents that I heard of, weather was not terrible, even if the track was maybe a tiny bit slow as it got a bit hot. Great fun. Happy with my times and consistency, even if they weren't the quickest I've done.

Had a fun little moment at Hungry during one of the early afternoon sessions, turned in a little bit too early and had too much lock on to recover when it hit the crest before the camber switch. Fortunately recovered, doesn't look like much on video but felt like a lot at the time. Still turned a 64.52 that lap, must've been a flier up until that point.
