Agreed - many of the forecasts seem to just show a bit of drizzle. Mmm...working Sunday with heavy rain, reasonable weather for the track day on Monday. Everything's coming up Milhouse!

BOM wrote:Weather Situation

A surface trough in the far southwest of the state will shift east during the weekend, most likely contracting off the southern coast early Monday. A strong upper trough and associated cloud band will also move east over the interior during the weekend and is likely to move into the southeast of the state on Monday. A new, strong high will move east over the Great Australian Bight during the next few days, gradually extending a cold, dry airmass into western Queensland in the wake of the surface trough.

Accuweather show 80% chance of rain, max of 23 degrees and, crucially "rain and drizzle early" with about 8 mm of rain. Fingers crossed the bulk of wet weather happens in the morning and we're good for the afternoon.

Still...I'm going to experience a wet track day at some point. If it's Monday, so be it.

That's the stance I'm taking too Vat. I out my semis on the car this morning, fingers crossed I don't regret it. Going to take the chance just in case there's a dry patch where I'd be annoyed to be 1sec+ off pace on road tyres instead.

All good to go, just changed the engine oil and filter this morning, I had been putting it off. Only suffered mild lacerations to left arm changing the filter, but should be ok for Monday.

Hey Roger, I now what you are talking about regarding the wasps, I was mowing one day near bushes in the back yard and suddenly I felt like i had been punched in the face, looking about and seeing no human assailant I noticed wasps swarming around. Chemical warfare then ensued. Humans 1,wasps 0.

Whether it continues to drizzle like this or there is a large downpour, it's not looking great for traction.

Looking at the Natsoft times I say it was wet.

Yes indeed, interesting and wet. Some folks had more "interesting" moments than others.

Still a great day out, Thanks to Adam for organising another excellent day, and as ever hats off to the Lakeside crew too.

I was constant rain all afternoon, never dried out. The final session or two looked to be much heavier rain than the rest, I only ran the first and third sessions though. I ended up 6th outright out of 35, which I'm reasonably happy with considering I've never run Lakeside in the rain before, or dríven in the rain on my semis.

Definitely some interesting moments, one newbie in particular had an unfortunate end to his day, but that's the risk you take I suppose. The 2 or 3 spins without damage did not teach him his limits quickly enough I suppose.

Well that was slippery... Struggled to get traction out of corners for most of the day as the boost came on so unfortunately ended up cruising my sessions to avoid rotating the car.

Other people seemed to do just fine so I obviously need to work on my wet car control and buy some new tyres. 8)

Great day considering it was WET!! Well, not what one would call heavy, at times just a light sprinkle and run 3 I did with the roof down!

Not sure how I managed 14/35, I know tyres plays a HUGE part so I was suprised when Mark was checking Natsoft over coffee of the way home - well John NC for your 3rd outrigjt from Gp3

Special thanks to Adam our Comp Sec and also to Doug, Barb and AJ and the rest of the QR staff for their untiring efforts to have the track clean for today - I arrive at 8.05am and they had the track sweeper out making sure no crap/mud on the surface
