Only seen the one when he's at the track but I can imagine!!

BTW when I asked about you and an 86, it was another Cal who had ordered one - sorry for the confusion

Hi all,

I am super keen to get my NA8 out on the track to see what I can get out of her.

I've got a few questions; I will be in a stock NA8, is this a good event for a 'first timer'? Is there any other safety requirements apart from helmet and long cotton clothing? After checking out the mx5 club page, it lists the payment details, what should I use as a reference after paying?

Thanks for any assistance!

Helmet and long clothes as you mentioned, closed in shoes, that's about it. It's a self-scrutineered event, so check your brakes, fluids etc before the day comes around, just make sure you don't find any problems.

Send your payment with a reference like' lakeside Nov 4',and email the competition secretary to inform your intent to attend, and let them know you have paid.

Lakeside is a dangerous track, much more than Queensland raceway. Run off is minimal, and it's a very high speed track. As long as you are aware of the dangers, and don't try to push too hard, there's no reason not to go there before going to QR. It's excellent value, a full day for such a low price. Consider bringing a jerry can of fuel, a full day will probably have your tank running very low by the end, if it lasts that long. Dont feel obligated to run every session if you think your brakes might need a rest or anything like that. Just do what you feel comfortable doing.

Cool thanks for the info. I was considering the fuel situation so appreciate the advice!

Well I'm sold, will see you all there.

Jase.

P.S. I drove past you yesterday (track photos sticker on the back) at the Grenard / Beaudesert road set of lights - White NA Hardtop.

Ah yeah, I was getting new tyres on. Can't wait to see how they feel at the track. We're you the one that looks like it runs a tad rich?

See you out there :)

Hehe, yeah that would probably have been me. Having issues with my IACV. Gasket arrives soon hopefully and wreckers one goes on.

See you there.

Federal 595 RSRs. Should be worth a second or two, more to gain from practice first though. Only done 15 dry laps of lakeside :(

I have not got my notepad with me at work with all the temps/settings I have used on the 595 RSR's, but start them at about 26 psi cold (before leaving for the track in the morning) and aim for 30/31 hot (when taken in the pits after your laps).

Cheers, I was hearing 27-28 cold but it's hard to find anyone basing their numbers on anything. The tyre place filled them to 30 cold, probably dead on for average street driving. Will start at 26 when they get used properly.

It is very helpfull to have a notebook to jot down temps/pressures/adjustments as well as how the car felt. My notebook lives with my pressure/pyro guage.

When you make your payment - ask them to use as a reference: 'surname-4 Nov'

If your surname is 'Koppolonawinskiovic' I think you got a few problems!!

If you pay at a Commonwealth Bank branch ask the teller for a receipt

See you there!
