Wow. Look at all you guys in the 64s and 65s. And Ross in th 61s. I am feeling totally slothful.

Re: MX5CQ Lakeside Trackday Monday 12th September (Afternoon)
First timer here. I really enjoyed the day; well run, lots of track time (I had 9 runs but could have had 10 if I had brought more fuel) and good weather too! I am new to the car and new to the circuit, so for me it was very much a learning day. First run I scored 70.0 sec. On the subsequent runs I got progressively quicker, helped by having many laps with a clear track. By the afternoon I was shaving away tenths and finished up with 64.8 sec. Very happy with that. Big thanks to everyone who made the day happen.

I have to pass on extra special thanks to Ross for saving my bacon with some GoPro stuff as I forgot most of the important bits and nearly didn't get to record anything at all.

No worries. I usually bring a stack of spare mounts and cards just in case

That one at 1:10 looked very, very close to the wall. Good thing you had the gopro running for the drive home too :p

Re: MX5CQ Lakeside Trackday Monday 12th September (Afternoon)
Zane, Aaron and I travelled up from NSW for this, our first track day with the QLD MX5 club and what a track day it was!!
You are a great bunch of friendly people always available for a chat and laugh. We were able to have a great number of runs and the turn around from session to session was very quick. The spacing of the cars on the track worked really well with very little passing needed and if it was required the car being passed always made it simple.
It was the first time we'd had our ND on the track and with various drivers the feedback was very positive. On the stock tyres it was running in the 1.04's for most of the day and we were super impressed with the handling with our TEIN FLEX coilover and PROGRESS TECH sway bar combo.
Was also great fun running our LHD NC MX5 as the LHD works really well around Lakeside - not generally the case with a clockwise track!! We also ran the Z3M and it's just HUGE fun anywhere.
Many thanks to Adam and the Club for the day. Organising and running these days is a lot of work and we appreciate the time your dedicated group has put in to ensure it runs so well.
Great day and looking forward to doing it again up there soon!!

Re: MX5CQ Lakeside Trackday Monday 12th September (Afternoon)
My spin.
I'd been running consistent 69's in the session before. Wasn't quite that quick here but guessing I put the boot down too early (possibly 94km/h per RaceChrono).
This is my first youtube attempt, so anything you can spot that I've done wrong please let me know.
Took 18 hours to upload the (shorter) session and another couple to "trim".
I'd like to get my previous session up with my PB. I also hadn't realised until yesterday that I'd got consistently in the 69's for all 5 laps, so much happier with the early efforts.
Hoolio, that's a great debut.
I know you were asking about a track car before. All I can see from the entrants list is that it is red.
We all know red cars go faster but I think it's time to spill the beans on the other details

Chris, Zane & Aaron
Your making the long haul up was great to see - all three cars were amazing to watch but I must say the 'mostly sideways' ND was simply awesome!
Look forward to seeing you all up again
Roger [was wearing the MX5CQ tee and cap] - many would say 'the OLD guy!!'
PS: I will have to apologise to Patrick for not feeding him the information that it went to full day!
OK - one more for Lakeside this year so just have to check the date

That spin looks to be caused by holding a little too much steering lock when you got back on the throttle, and then just a small hesitation before countersteering. The hesitation will go away with practice, you'll learn to feel when it will recover on its own and when it is going to need correction.
The second apex is pretty close to a constant radius corner, so at the same time you get back on the power, you should be straightening the wheel. If the back hadn't broken free, your exit line would have left a good 2 metres between you and the edge of the track. All of that track can be used to accelerate through, and the less your steering wheel is turned while accelerating, the less prone the rears will be to letting go. One spot this particularly matters in is the crest where the bridge used to be. Almost every crash there is caused by taking a line requiring too much steering lock when the suspension unloads.

Jon told me the tow truck driver had a couple of mx5s himself. Small world. Bad luck to break an axle just outside a race track, eh?
