MX5 CLUB OF QLD - TRACK DAY - QR -16 FEB 2015

Are you attending the QR trackday on Monday?
Are you a QR Novice?

If you answer YES to both questions, you need to arrive at QR early, to join Doug Chappel's first timers tour.
The tour comprises a slow lap of the track, stopping at each corner to receive advice on how best to drive it. This is invaluable information, and is offered by QR at no charge. At the last Lakeside day, the attendees were full of praise for this session.

To join the "Tour", meet at the base of the control tower at 10am sharp.
Also, please email me to let me know you are attending, so I can give numbers to Doug.

It's worth tagging along on one of these even if you've been before - Doug can show you which line you're actually meant to be taking, rather than the one you do.

Anyone interested in meeting at the Burpengary BP southbound around 9ish? We will be going M1/M2 as the centenary highway will be a car park around the roadworks.

I will be leaving much earlier than that Sonke, I don't use the 'Gateway' as it's usually a carpark so leaving BP around 7.00am and allow 2.5 hours or so for the trip out - that's my normal routine via route 5 Enoggera/Bardon/Western Freeway and get there around 9.00 - 9.30am to set up then relax :wink:

I'd hate to be caught on the Gateway where you simply can't turn around aand go another way

Liam McAdam will be driving our NB. I'm keen to see what times he can do with not much more than 100rwhp. :twisted:

Well, I guess I'm about as sorted as I can be. Replaced the motor after the Lakeside unpleasantness and put in a heavy duty clutch and lightened flywheel, Federal semis good to go, and hopefully power steering all the way through proceedings - be interesting to see how we go compared to the September event.

Has word been passed to the snake community to avoid the track this time?

Yeah, I dropped a letter in to the snake on my way back from visiting the ducks.

1:06.2474 for the stock Automotive Plus NB, kudos to the driver Liam McAdam. Less than half a second behind a modified turbo! A bit more 4 Seconds behind the 2.5ltr supercharged MX5 NC.

I feel very humble and old now thanks Liam...

Stock NB (yes it is track only) managed a 1:02.3130 of the Sprint again faster than a few of the forced induction cars. Again it will be argued that the forced induction are street only but some of them are not stock turbos either.

Hope everybody had a great day, it sucks to be at work forced to watch live Natsoft results

If it's any consolation the Automotive Plus car is going to need a little bit of light panel work once it's back in the shop. Nothing to stop it heading back out, though, so just a bit of scuffing.

I had a great day (came home in the car I turned up in, so that was nice), ran 3 sessions on Sprint and three on Clubman before calling it a day, sessions on the Sportsman and National were underway when I left with rain looming. Found some time over my debut last year so pleased with that.
