14 days prior - would be Monday 2 November and still get best value

I may only be able to do a half day. Will they run a second briefing? Need to work on time off :(

Well spotted Ross. Just remove that pesky "1" I left in.

1. I need you to do a Super Early Bird entry and pay your entry fee by Monday 2/11
2. On Tuesday 3/11 I will announce if we have sufficient entry fees to extend the booking

And I see now there is almost no chance of me announcing anything useful or accurate on Melbourne Cup Day. Maybe Wednesday 4/11

And there's now 24 on QR's system. Unfortunately I can't get the latest actually paid up numbers at the moment.

For those who are unable to make an early start due to school drop offs, travel distance etc, I will ask QR about a second, late morning Driver's Briefing.

I may be missing something Adam, but if it is NOT an 'extended' meet, is the half day an afternoon as IIRC in the past, or a morning-"For those who are unable to make an early start due to school drop offs, travel distance etc, I will ask QR about a second, late morning Driver's Briefing." this time:_?
Makes a difference for me with work.

Might I suggest that the first post for these ongoing be consistent and contain ALL relevant information (ie. breakdown of costs, clothing requirement, car requirement)and links. This makes it a heck of a lot easier for newcomers/those unfamiliar. Telling people "here's the link to QR" then "here's the link to MX-5 qld club" doesn't really cut it.
It's been a couple of years since I've done this, and even I'm a bit lost, to put it another way, treat the first post as a "Track Day For Dummies" which you can simply cut & paste for subsequent days and simply change dates and update any other pertinent information.

I was going to promote and post a link to this thread on the GTi-R forum, but if I am a little confused and wanting for more info, then one can assume that newbies would become disenchanted quite quickly.

My $0.02

Oh, and Qld mx-5 site has "1300 RACERS". Should be 1800 RACERS

It looks like it will be a PM event (as originally planned) unless it expands to a full day event. Full details here: http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=33

I made the original post Andrew - the link to the MX-5 Club gives all relevant details as does the link to Queensland Raceways. I fail to see how this was of no assistance - when I first had to enter online with QR I had to work that out, simple when the 'Entry System' shows on their opening page but I still had to stumble along making 'errors' like my car number etc - all I did was ring QR to sort these matters out

It would have been more pertinent to ask any other questions via this forum or simply contact others you knowm after all that's why it was set up

- The club link takes you to the "forms" page, of which the only useful thing is the indemnity form.

- The QR page gives the person no info. I'm guessing it does once you register, but most people wouldn't register, for anything, before knowing what they are in for. So people need to be told what to expect when they register on QR.

- First question anyone would ask is "how much?" Where is that stated? Let alone the different tiers for early payment, member/non-member etc. I actually don't know myself, from memory a figure of $165 for early payment & non-member pops into my mind. If that is on the club page, I couldn't find it.

- clothing requirements is not obvious on the club site. It's halfway down the "Format" page (should be first thing), after you read the blah-blah that is of no interest to non-club/non-mx-5 owner/casual entrant.

Of course I can figure this out for myself or ask friends, but I'm actually commenting on behalf of others not of this forum so need to make things as simple as possible.

I actually got lost exactly as Andrew is saying.

I found the indemnity form but no details on how and where to make payment.

Hence I posted "ok I entered on qr what now" admittedly I hadn't hunted throughly through the webpages and link but as a first timer if wasn't clear what the next step was apart from showing up with the indemnity form.

OK. I hear that people are confused. This is part of the problem I face trying to disseminate/maintain information through multiple channels.

From my point of view, there are only three official channels:
- MX5CQ website
- Motorsport email list
- Private emails

I regard this forum and facebook as places to repost or redirect.

I am aware that the structure of the website is not great. It is not something I can fix quickly but I will do the RACERS thing. Thanks for pointing that out.
Regular users of this forum have been invited to subscribe to the motorsport email list at http://eepurl.com/bihGIr. Feedback received indicates the mail outs have adequate information.
Anybody is welcome to PM, email or telephone me regarding MX5CQ motorsport matters. Posting here is hit and miss as I do not tend to visit regularly.

Thread starters here, like everyone else, are doing the best they can. I appreciate the support. They are enthusiastic amateurs, just like me, who want to share the fun of owning an MX5.

The current Lakeside booking is for the afternoon of 16/11.
If I get 50 or more paid entries* the booking will be extended to a full day, with 8:00am briefing.

A few people are unable to make a early start due to other commitments. It may be possible to have a 2nd Drivers Briefing later in the morning to cater for late arrivals, or those who only want to do the afternoon session. No promises on this yet, until I speak to QR.

Money paid, entry was put in a while ago. I have one workmate definitely coming (the guy who couldn't make it last time at Lakeside due to the flu - ran a mid 1:11 in his track-pig Hyundai Excel at the midweek sprints a few weeks ago) and another colleague who's just about over the line - bought an R33 GT-R as a road/track car and is hoping to make his debut. Will have a chat to the neighbour with the hotted up VE SS and see if he's interested.

Current Tally: 15 confirmed paid, plus another 15 or so promises.

2nd driver's Briefing
For those who are unable to attend the 8:00 driver's briefing (and hence the whole day) I have now arranged for a second Driver's Briefing at 11:00am. As always, you must attend a briefing before you will be permitted on track. Please let me know if you need to attend the later briefing.
