If you don't want to mod ur car then don't. If you do, go nuts. Why try I compete and make it about $$$ and HP when most of us are there to have fun. Simply race what u have.

I guess when you are spending stupidly too much money and getting average results its best not to know either.

As others have said, as long as we all have fun.

Your a wanker mate. I've never said that I'm building the worlds fastest mx5. I simply built a fast street car that I can take to the track and have fun with. Getting average results? Why the ƒü¢k does it matter what I'm getting. I'm not the worlds fastest driver so I drive at my own pace.

Wasn't intending to personally direct that to you.... Was a general statement saying that when someone spends $100k (your comment that I assumed wasn't you) that they probably ARE ok with not comparing the cost vs improved times as we know better driving always beats $$$ up to a point.

I think that was your point yeah? It shouldn't matter how much $$$ as long as you enjoy it and knowing you aren't any faster/$ then a stock mx5 would be probably takes the fun out of it.

If you took that personally then my bad - should of been clearer then.

Guys - lets not blow this up. I'm 100% in agreement in having fun out there. Was only trying to encourage another dimension to the recorded times on the day to keep it interesting.

NICE personal attack mate.... How much have you really thought about $/ improvement?

Pretty sure you get your ass handed to you as much as Charlie in that situation.

Ie you spent (plucking numbers) 1500 on a megasquirt and supercharger . Joe blow spends 75 on new front pads.

You would have to be 20 times faster to equal him in a $/category.

Or doing it on improvement you would have to see 20 the improvement of Joe. Likely?

I think your missing the point, Charlie and car 53 didn't do their mods to win a trophy for fastest mx5 at mx5 club qld track day

They did it to make the car how they like it for THEIR enjoyment.

It seems you have a chip on your shoulder about money. I just hope your attitude is being warped by text and those at the track day aren't going to have to endure your put downs as they come across on here.

Not at all. No issue about the $$$ spent. Seems point is being lost and people are taking it personally. My bad.

I hope everyone has settled down :?

Just set up our cars how we want them (within our own budgets) and go to track days to improve our own times.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks Okibi, appreciate your comment

Doesn't matter what one has done to improve their car, you do what YOU want to it and then if you want to 'track' it, so be it!!

I think the valium jar is now empty!!

Less than 48 hours now, maybe some rain coming but that will just be an interesting feature! Thank heavens QR has lots of 'run-off' areas!

If it does rain, if running street tyres, would use put a little less air in compared to dry? Say 32 psi or still run them as high as 38 psi ??

Less air and run soft if you have adjustable shocks. If you can also disconnect the rear anti roll bar that also helps.

I'm quite upset that I can't make it tomorrow! :(

I've been looking forward to taking my five out on the track for the first time (I really want to get some laps done while she's still stock.)
But I've decided it might be best to get some training first and fix up a few things, like actually getting the same type of tire for all of the wheels :?

That and I have work. (Or I would totally come and spectate/finally meet the gang)

I can't wait to come join in though, I know that I won't be anywhere near competitive - but thats not the point :D

I expect to see lots of videos and pictures. :D

Have fun guys!

Thanks!! That's what it's all about, you have to start somewhere and it's about learning first and then progressing step by step, I've actually gone from 'damn slow' to just 'plain slow' but I still have fun!!

I always carry zip ties in the glove box. They're amazing little things!
