*waves hand* You don't need to see the car budget...

*waves hand* These aren't the parts you are looking for...

"These aren't the parts I'm looking for".

Works for me too

Have fun on Monday all. :)

I like the idea of the lap time to $ spent or HP ratio, show the true driver skill. :D

Does it even really matter? If someone wants to spend money on their car to make it faster or funner isnt it their business? I dnt understand ur argument and I think it's pointless.

Of course it is (pointless)- if we wanted to be fastest we could simply use "equity maaaate" to buy a GT3 RS or some other beast and piss all over every mx5 in town.

Thats why we are not door to door racing, but doing timed sprints. All the jibing is really just light hearted competition against your mates and shouldnt be anything more. A glance down pit lane at the variety of cars, and certainly the variety of drivers should show that there are too many variables to really nail down who has the biggest ....

Its great fun chasing your own PB though, and really rewarding when a modd, or a new technique shows in the times.

Now we just have to wait for Roger to bring his FT86 along and show us all up :D (cue zero)

Agree totally! Show me a standard MX5 at a Track Day, you could find 1-2 out of 40+

If someone has the $ and gets enjoyment out of it so be it, if you go into it at entry level and on a budget, just have fun regardless! We can all dream but most inmportant, regardless of how much the car has spent you HAVE to be able to drive!!

We all have different levels of improvements to our cars, if someone can do it better then good luck! Just try harder!! I know my limits, and I have almost reached them, it's a factor of age, health and pure nerve! But to just gain a half second each track day, I'd be happy!! Will that happen? who knows!! But sure as hell I will give it a try!!

Now back to the garage for my 'courier-mail' diffuser!! Will test it tomorrow on a motorised scooter!!

MINX

Heading to the Dealer tomorrow to verify is the car an 86 or do I have to reach the age of 86 before it comes!! Not due now until at least January [originally 2/3 months from 2 July] so a GTS or GTS Aero could be the go but no so sure i'd 'track' it!!

Of course I have to do the testing of the 'courier-mail' diffuser before i go, and pray for no rain! On that point I think we could be in for some fun Monday if all the forecasts align! :D :frown: :( :|

Sure. As long as "hey man I got 50 sec round lakeside in my MX5 NA6" is put into perspective that really $40,000 of mods got you to 51 seconds and your skill as driver got you 1 second faster, than yeah, perhaps it is pointless.

But when you don't, then the money spent on mods really does have a point yeah?

Cool story but why the ƒü¢k does it matter? What people do with their money is their own business. I for one love watching the group 1 cars at time attack. Even though a lot of those cars are 100,000$ builds I think it's awesome to watch.

If you don't want to mod ur car then don't. If you do, go nuts. Why try I compete and make it about $$$ and HP when most of us are there to have fun. Simply race what u have.

I guess when you are spending stupidly too much money and getting average results its best not to know either.

As others have said, as long as we all have fun.

NICE personal attack mate.... How much have you really thought about $/ improvement?

Pretty sure you get your ass handed to you as much as Charlie in that situation.

Ie you spent (plucking numbers) 1500 on a megasquirt and supercharger . Joe blow spends 75 on new front pads.

You would have to be 20 times faster to equal him in a $/category.

Or doing it on improvement you would have to see 20 the improvement of Joe. Likely?

I think your missing the point, Charlie and car 53 didn't do their mods to win a trophy for fastest mx5 at mx5 club qld track day

They did it to make the car how they like it for THEIR enjoyment.

It seems you have a chip on your shoulder about money. I just hope your attitude is being warped by text and those at the track day aren't going to have to endure your put downs as they come across on here.

Your a wanker mate. I've never said that I'm building the worlds fastest mx5. I simply built a fast street car that I can take to the track and have fun with. Getting average results? Why the ƒü¢k does it matter what I'm getting. I'm not the worlds fastest driver so I drive at my own pace.

Rather than hand bags at 6 O'clock.

I'm more than happy to let Charlie and Grant use my car 5 lap each; winner is the bloke with the fastest lap time?
Settles any issues. Shake hands and move on afterwards!

I'm only running my car as a shake down any way.

Thoughts?
