Good day
Hopefully the damaged cars can be repaired without to much expense
Not as many runs as might be expected of a full day, but plenty given the muggy heat
Pretty competitive in a few groups
Great work Ross, you are really driving great keeping awesome corner average speeds to hold your ground with more powerful cars
See you all next year

Absolutely a great day!!
Huge thanks to Adam, Doug and his team [not all names known] but AJ, Barb, Bob, Andrew Aiden and all other QP Staff and the fabulous guy running the Pit Stop Cafe
Some days things are sent to test us, a few problems with the timing but I'd have been no quicker with a sundial or calender, quite a few close or doing PB's whereas a few of us up to 3-4-5 secs off PB's!! I lost 2 of 6 runs where seems to have failed but you can't have it perfect every time
Well done to all the first timers, nice to have them run in their own group and many improvements there thru the day and lots of smiles as well
Who would have thought that almost straight after while heading for coffee northbound I would be using the wipers and then from coffee to home it has absolutely poured! So great to get thru the day with no rain at all!
Hope to see all again at the first meet in 2016 at Lakeside

Ross - some cars with double entries use the same transponder so that would count for not showing 68 starters and see what you mean - It says I did 10 laps! Also my best of the day was last lap last run which doesn't appear yet shows on my lapceiver from in-car - weird indeed but these things happen

Yeah odd that I got a 66.9 as a print out and yet Natsoft has a 67.x time listed, so I guess the QR guys had issues on the day. No big deal.

Pouring down here still so how lucky were we? Yeah, a glitch with the timing but I believe the printed sheets were fine, I didn't bother collecting them unfortunately

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QUEENSLAND - LAKESIDE PARK 16 NOV 2015
Had a good solid day battling at the front of Group 4 with glslender, particularly in the third last session, although he had a couple of tenths on me all day. Seemed stuck in the mid 68s until Grant asked to borrow a tyre pressure gauge, and it reminded me to check the tyre temps - quite a bit hotter in the middle than the outsides. Took some pressure out, and suddenly dipped just below the 68's, and ran a 67.2 in the second last session to take 4 tenths out of my PB here (can not find the bit of paper for the exact time, though). Timing system shenanigans meant the in-car Lapceiver was all over the shop, and I note we haven't got afternoon session times at Natsoft yet.
Thought I might have been in Group 3 based on times but to be honest we had opportunities for clean laps in each of the sessions and only just started to see lapped cars very late. No issues with crowding here. My two friends had great days and will be back. Can't really comment on the incidents as I really didn't see any of them and wasn't involved - hopefully repairs are straightforward and people can return quickly.
Followed magpie home along the Western Freeway and signed the day off with a third gear run up to the speed limit. As you do.
Thanks to Adam, the various MX5CCQ people involved and the QR staff for putting on a great day. I'm knackered!

Thanks to Adam.
Thanks to Doug, Barb and AJ, who I met, and all the rest of the QR team that I didn't meet. Lots of 'unseen' work that makes for a great day.
Doug's track tour was top notch.
Highly recommended for any attendees in the future.
Only one apex cone out on the track so you felt like you were picking the lines yourself. I'd have been lost and would have had little confidence without Doug's tips and words of warning.
Seriously put the fear of God in me but, as I say, strangely instilled some confidence too.
Biggest thanks of the day for me go to Tess and her eagle eyes.
Unfortunately it meant my day was cut short but luckily for me it was before I could have got in some serious trouble.
Thanks also to Andrew who made it possible for me to get home.
I'm looking forward to next year.
More track days please Santa [WINKING FACE]

Ian I had a good look at that tyre and I doubt it would have got you far.
Vat it was a slow crawl along the western freeway, however never let a chance go by to get up to the speed limit as fast as possible
the noise is addictive.

Thanks Roger, glad you came over for the quick chat. Great to put a face to the forum names.
Will try and catch up for Coffee before Christmas. Got a few busy weekends coming up but have been meaning to sneak in a few drives up past that way.
Alex had a great day. She's still just loving being a passenger in the MX5. Time to slap those L plates on soon though.

Having a pit crew is great for a forgetful old codger like myself

zero00 wrote:I was watching Gp5 and you guys did an excellent job for first times like I was some 5 years ago
Yeah. Thanks to everyone in Group 5. Apologies to anyone I held up and especially for the spin in session three (after 'The Chat'

Not an easy group to plan or predict as there was a good spread of times initially and then decent improvements from there on but there was plenty of respect and understanding shown towards each other.

Magpie wrote:Ian I had a good look at that tyre and I doubt it would have got you far.

The space saver was surprisingly good. I wasn't looking forward to the drive home when I first looked at it.
I was prepared for it to be thin but was shocked that it was so much shorter.
Wasn't a drama at all, until we had to stop to re-tighten the nuts

If it's ok with you I might bring the Suzuki Jimny 'death-mobile' out to dodgy day.It will allow me to pick up that wheel and the 'death wobble' should lead to some great conversations, possibly a solution and maybe some very scary test drives

Yep! Was a great set of last runs that last set. Can't wait to do that again - Craig, we'll have to run up in a faster group next time, as we were slowly taking time off after each lap and probably could of pushed down into 66sec if we didn't catch up to the slower cars in the group. Still, very good day and didn't feel too crowded on the track at all.
Funny thing about that air pressure was that I did my best time with only 20psi in the tyres... !!

I thought they were closer to 25 warm, but should of checked them earlier in the day... but very pleased to have got through the day with no brown-pant moments (or worse!)

Did anyone happen to grab a paper copy of the results for the last run Group 4 did by itself? I swear blind I grabbed one but it has yet to appear at home. Natsoft hasn't put the times for the afternoon session up as yet.
