Day 2
New PB of 67:92
Finished the day in 2nd place for the 2001-4000cc road registered class.
Several damaged machines including a Shelby Cobra that collected a stump and a hefty bit of damage. One car ended up so far down an embankment that it was abandoned, tied to a tree to prevent further progress until the day finished.

The last runs of the day were red mist on cooling bitumen with casualties!

Brilliant day, brilliant weather, great section of road.

Here's my best run of the weekend (67:92):

There was a story, could be a legend, about a Jag that went off course at Noosa Hillclimb a few years ago. It ended up down an embankment somewhere. During the recovery they lost control of the car and it ended up down the embankment again, with more damage. The owner was able to make a successful insurance claim as the 2nd lot of damage DID NOT OCCUR DURING COMPETITION! As told to me, but not by any first person witnesses :)

They would be Mark Crespin in the Cobra and Danny Mischock in the Escort. Both are regulars at Mt Cotton, and both usually put on a good show for the spectators. Down at Lakeside there were a few incidents too, including Dwayn Taylor's Torana that lost a wheel at Hungry, which then crossed the infield and jumped the fence all the way over to the golf course. He dropped some oil up at Eastern Loop, which caught out Callum Whatmore in his Sil80. Unfortunately it put Callum in the wall, first crash in about 5 years of sprints and racing for Callum. Bad weekend for crashes I suppose.

There were several other cars that also went home bent, a Datsun 120y and Mitsubishi Evo, both with shattered front suspension. After seeing the number of cars that were coming unstuck in a big way on the cooling track in the afternoon, I called it a day and did not do the last run.

Here's Danny Mischock's run that ended in a wall after the finish line - a 60:49!

Guessing this was probably the one. Race car insurance typically exists to cover the car while it's in the pits, being loaded on and off trailers etc, so I suppose recovery after an incident isn't technically during competition. You'd have to recommend whoever the insurer was after that.

It went off in the last year I ran my Zed up there. Yes was able to make a claim on insurance for two reasons:
1. As you said Adam, the second lot of damage done during the recovery was covered, and
2. The owner was associated with Shannons Insurance at the time, so the claim process was made a little easier.
