From the Cootha Classic Facebook Page posted yesterday:

"Did you have trouble with our online application? That is because we have had such an influx of competitor entries in the last week it couldn't keep up!
It has been fixed now, however due to the high demand we will be leaving applications open for another 2 weeks. The quality and quantity of applications has been outstanding and we can't wait to start selecting the successful driver/teams.
Thank you to everyone who has entered so far!"

Could it be that things are looking up for the common man?

NO, could be read as the entries received to date are not worth it so keeping it open so that more attention grabbing entries can be found.

According to a few forum posts elsewhere, there were only about 150 entries last time, when it was being run as a competitors event and not a commercial enterprise. I suspect they are very short of entries with wow factor. If you've been overwhelmed by high calibre responses, you do not need extend the close date by 2 weeks!

I calculated that it was going to cost me over $1000 to run the Elan, with Dorian, extra safety equipment purchases ............

Decided it wasn't worth it :D

I suspect they are very short of entries with wow factor.

They've made it so exclusive now that they've excluded the those who don't have a river of gold at their front door. I can't even be bothered to go for a look.

There's more down to earth motorsport being conducted at Mt Cotton, Lakeside, Willowbank or Morgan Park by enthusiasts most weekends.

mazlot/JBT I agree not worth considering, you can just imagine what a spectator ticket will cost. If World Time Attack sticks to its entry closing date (as do other events) why can't the Cootha Classic.

The QLD street sprints Facebook page tells me that official invites to participate went out last night (or have begun at least). Nothing in my inbox!

Same layout as the original, will be interesting to see how the resurfacing affects the course, hopefully for the better.....

Also interesting to see if there are the same restrictions on warming up the tyres, ie no burnouts, made it fun for me wheel spinning up to the first chicane on the Sunday with cold slicks and a locked diff, the old Zed wagged it's bum pretty impressively according the driver of the car behind me......

I would like to have been there, but will be on a train between Jakarta and Yogjakarta that day.....
