I will have a talk with Mark on the day - Group 1 will have some very fast cars and some numbers will have to be crunched as to how quickly the lead car will catch the rear gunner!!

Best idea is maybe limit Group 1 to 10 cars maximum and decrease the gap and ensure they go out in order of fastest down, and that the 'rear gunner' be no more than 5 secs a lap slower than the fastest. That would mean drivers would have to adhere to the start order for it to flow smoothly

Thoughts?

If the car is fitted with a harness, does it need to be "in date". Just replaced the belts in a local N(c) car which expired at the end of last year. They would be a lot safer than OE belts, wouldn't they?

There is no scrutineering so it is up to the driver to make sure everything is working correctly

I would imagine someone with a lot more knowledge than me will make a post regarding that - hopefully tonight!

I'm gutted, but cannot see me having the car ready for Monday. I've yet to still light the fire on the new engine, so unlikely to get it together by the day.

On that note, when is the next scheduled track day?

Groups - For a full day, 5 would be appropriate if numbers are up around 40-45 drivers. Decision by Competition Secretary required on the day. Drivers will be re-seeded as required during the day in an attempt to keep group driver times compatible.

Vehicle - The sole responsibility for its serviceability and compliance with safety requirements rests with the driver. However, Qld Raceways and the organisers always have the right to demand that a vehicle deemed to be in a poor or unsafe condition or which poses a hazard to other competitors/entrants leave the track or be prohibited from entering the track.

All motorsport calendar events for 2013 are listed on the club website - http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=51

Perhaps this would be a good place for us south-siders to meet up beforehand for a coffee/breaky. I know I'll need it. I'm guessing I'd be there about 6:45 or 7:00 am.

JBT, is this servo on the southern end of Old Northern Rd, or further up?

The BP is here on the northbound side: http://goo.gl/maps/Gwzbe

I'll be having brekky at home and blasting straight through so I can be there to help with check-in.

Speaking of which, the steps are:

1. Go to the control tower with your application for Private and General Testing. Have your driver's licence and AASA licence with you. Pay for a AASA licence if you don't have one. Pay for your timing transponder if you don't have one. Get a wrist band for your right wrist and put it on.

2. Go to the briefing room (building just west of the control tower). Have your wrist band on, and produce your MX-5 Club Indemnity Form and your CTP insurance extension certificate at the first desk.

3. Move to the second desk and pay him $165 if you are paying on the day Tell him your timing transponder number, get your group and your car number (if not pre-allocated from previous track days). Take your car number (if you don't have your own) from the pile to stick on the driver's door.

4. Sit down and quietly wait for the drivers briefing.

Sure!! No matter what we will fit you in!! You can pay on the day if you like. If you have run before at Lakeside and have some times, could you flick them to Mark the Competition Secretary at comsecmx5@miata.net.au so he can slot you into a group. If you are a beginner, still flick him an email so he can work with organising the groups and so he also aware you are coming

No matter what, you WILL get a run!!

Anything else you need to know, have a read thru the last 3-4 pages here and if still unsure, make another post and someone will get back to you within, say, 12 hours!!

Thanks for the welcoming response. I have done lakeside but it was in my old Evo. My little NA would probably be double the 59s my Evo did.

After the first run you can be moved up or down dependent on the times - I'd say there will be 5 groups so perhaps if Mark puts you in 2 or 3 to start and see where it goes from there

'zoom-zoom' gets around in sub 60's and a few of the other guys are 63-64's

Hope to see you there for a great day!!
