We had that conga line thing happening at Willowbank last time with a certain 3.0 litre twin turbocharged BMW - he also left early after being dropped down a group and still being caught by hair dressers in dinky cars.
No. haven't signed up for an 86 yet. Not enough spare cash...or garage space for another car.

Hairdresser cars? Oh dear!!
Well I got a chip in my windscreen and guess what? I think it was from someone in front's CARDIGAN!! a button must have flown off!!
I think i'm the only one with a hairdryer and NO hair!!
Yeah, remember that particular car!! A faster one comes up i'm outta the way!! No good trying to stay in front of a 747 while flying your Tiger Moth!!

I'm looking forward to the day as well.
Hoping for reliability so I'm doing my best to touch nothing prior to the 17th as it seems to be running well atm.

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 17 SEPT 2012
I haven't attended a MX5CCQ track day in about 18 months. And it would be pretty rare that those chats happen. I remember my first track day. Was in the beginners group also. Nervous, looking around at all the other cars lined up in my group. Thinking to myself I'll go to the back of the line and not get in anyones way.
Off we go, do a extra warm up lap following the R33 QR car. By the second or third lap, I had pasted all but one grey NB8B that I was crawling all over most of the laps. But exiting the carosel and final corner, he just jumped 5-6 car lengths in 200-300 meters. The extra 100kg and 50hp less from my Astina really showed. But somewhere near the end, he slowed up and allowed me to pass.
One thing I did notice was the flaggie at the top of the carosel clapping all newbies after their first run. Great feeling.
On our next run, everyone lined up after me. Was a bit of at shock first. I was like, "Why is everyone behind me?" But no words were needed to be spoken. The respect for the faster cars was there from everyone involved.
So no need to worry about that aspect. Good blokes. They'll respect you. As I'm sure you'll do the same. You are made to feel very welcome, not matter what you drive. And no matter how faster or slower you are. I cannot say that for some more bigger car macho groups around.
So just join the beginners group. Sit back and find your own grove. Don't be nervous, it'll all come together nicely on the day.
Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Are we just going to run the clubman track? Or sprint as well?

Re: MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 17 SEPT 2012
It’s on again September 17. The fifth round of the sprint challenge will be on. If you have already competed this year don’t let those valuable points go to waste by sleeping in or doing something far less important like work. If you have wanted to come out and try track days this is the time to come out. We will be at Queensland Raceway, Willowbank. If you are new we can place you in a group of new drivers to the track. If you are fast you can be promoted through the groups, but one thing is for sure, fast or slow, you will have a great day.
Track Address: Queensland Raceway , Champions Way, Willowbank, Queensland
So, 10:30 to 11 am arrival
Registration from 11 am
Driver briefing 11:40
Track time 12:00 sharp.
Don’t forget your helmet, ankle, wrist, neck cotton clothing and of course, your car in good running order.
from http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=33
Rego at 11 charlie - so that means you're coming right?
Cheers,
