The event has been run and team MX-5 Club Qld did well.
The day started with pouring rain for the sighting laps and then dried up around lunch. Running on a dry track with times nominated in the very wet made it difficult. I had to go into the bus stop to remove my door number that was half detached and flapping about and making me think I had shredded the rear tyre on that side....big points lost on 2 laps for that. Jeff had an off on a warm up lap and had to come in with wheels full of stones and kitty litter....more big points lost. Still, we pressed on and came in a creditable 5th out of 15 teams. Next time....
And the best news is that Magpie took out the trophy for Outright Winner. Outstanding result!
Was a fun day, very challenging to set a dial in time of 1:25 based on wet then have if fine up. A Porsche driver suggested not using the brakes, so armed with this advice, put the car into 4th and tried not to have the shift lights come on (above 5,500 RPM). However on the main straight I did let it red line in 4th before backing off.
Best news of all was the $26k raised for Beyond Blue
This saw me fined by Doug for unauthorized mowing
Somebody was not fined for this
Off at Hungry (again), no forward vision from today...
