CAMS Speed Event Series

Postby madjak » Fri Nov 14, 2014 8:12 pm

Just posting a quick video of my 3rd run at Phil's Hillclimb last weekend. This is with my new 1.8 engine in the car. My 4th run was over a second quicker but the GoPro batteries died halfway through... watching the video afterwards it feels really slow compared to the incar experience given it's a very bumpy wide road. Unfortunately I didn't get any footage of the car running at the Collie track.

Won the class both days over a Lotus and Ian in a 2001? MX5. Usually there is a very fast FT86GT, and a Honda but they both weren't there on the weekend.

Next event is Barbagallo on the 6th which unfortunately conflicts with the MX5 club event. Hopefully next season there are a few more MX5's competing in this series.

It does have nearly double the power! There is only so much you can do under brakes and cornering.

That hillclimb is hard too. No runoff on the corners and very bumpy. I could easily commit in the 1.6.... not so easy when your going much faster so there would be another few seconds once i get used to more power.
