Re: Towing points
No. They need to be 40mm dia iirc. I use wide ratchet strapping knotted through the tie downs, and taped to the car to stop flapping in the breeze. You can try the factory ones, there is a chance all the scrutes will look for is the sticker, and if they pick it up they might just tell you to fix it for next time. But do stay out of the gravel traps ...
Or you can use bought ones (Mania sell them I think), or make your own if you are handy.

Re: Towing points
Read the class rules and see if the existing ones pass.
For general club days the factory ones should be fine, when I used to hang around at Winton track days the only requirement was to have a tow point, not a single car was knocked back for the factory points.
If its not for track days, no need at all, the factory ones will be fine.

Should have added that I actually use orange straps on the factory points.
Also, being orange & visible, tow stickers aren't required by Cams.

Re: Towing points
Richard's Bear Hooks are excellent quality. And rules compliant.

Re: Towing points
Green Machine is dead right. When you are ready to Supersprint you will have to comply with the tow hook regulations. Having the compliant ones may save a bit of body damage if you do have to be towed out of a trap, a good investment I'd say.

Nope, only true for race cars. Road registered cars are exempt.
It is in the Cams Regs that you do not need complaint tow hooks on a road registered vehicle. Standard is acceptable.
You just need the TOW sticker showing where it is as they are usually harder to find.
See below section SCHEDULE B of GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF AUTOMOBILES. NSW Supersprint Technical Regs point back to this document.
(r) be fitted with a visible towing point (capable of accepting a 40mm OD cylindrical test object) fitted forward of the front axle and rearward of the rear axle and capable of towing the automobile on a sealed surface with its wheels locked. Where a tow point is obscured, each tow point shall be marked with the word “TOW” of a contrasting colour marking the location of each tow point. A road registered series production automobile fitted with any unmodified original equipment tow point shall be exempt from these requirements, save for the requirement to identify an obscured tow point
It makes me wonder why people fit these big, bright tow hooks on road cars. Most are not even track cars at all. Racer look = cop magnet.
I am sure they wouldn't meet ADR rules as any thing at the front of a road registered vehicle has to have a leading edge of more than 10mm.
