The final round of the 2016 MX5 Cup is being run this Sunday at SMSP South Circuit as part of the Festival of Sporting Cars meet. It looks like a good field of around 14 cars. The preliminary timetable suggests the first of three races will be around 12 noon, race two in the vicinity of 2pm and the third and final race around 4 - 4.30pm. I encourage anyone who has thought about some door to door racing to pop in for a look and chat to some of the competitors and fellow enthusiasts. There should be some good close competitive racing from the variety of MX5's competing.

The MX5 Cup is a great entry point for a move from track days and super sprints into door to door racing. A great group or racers who are always willing to lend a hand to fellow competitors. In fact I would have missed my first ever race if it was not for the assistance a some of the fellow racers and I could have been more appreciative. Racing is clean, competitive and heap of fun with battles right through the field of cars. The class structure leaves the overall cup winner open to a competitor from any category.

The 2017 Cup is shaping up to be a exciting year of racing. The provisional calendar looks great with three tracks over the six rounds. We are expecting to grow the grid number for 2017 which will produce even more great racing over the series.
