Hi guys.

Brand new member/owner here, just bought my first MX5 (fairly stock NA6, needs a bit of work, only cost me $1800) but I'm REALLY keen to get on the track.
I have my fingers crossed and my wallet screaming in pain to try and get out there by the end of May.

Hopefully I'll see you guys there!

Gotta get my entry in this week.

Xaviien, you don't need much to come to a track day. Best to have a read of Charlie Brown's thread about first timers at the track. That'll help make sure your ready to go

Thanks mx.

That thread is cross posted to the MX5 club page as well, and I've read it several times now.
My issue is, I don't have a tow vehicle or trailer, so I need to make sure, as much as I can, that the MX5 will be able to make the trip from Newcastle to Goulbourn and back. For an $1800 car, that's a bit of a worry hahaha.

I could list out everything that needed/wanted to be replaced, but that would probably derail the thread a little.

Are you heading down for the Charity Lunch on the Saturday?
Also are you and your wife sharing a car? If so, are you planning on taking extra fuel?

Yes sharing the car. Haven't even thought of fuel though  guess we'll just turn up with a full tank and run until we have enough left to make it to the nearest fuel station and call it a day
We planned to head down on saturday anyway so will probably swing by for the Charity run for lunch

A full tank will easily last a whole day.
Usually 1/4 tank does me

Don't be so sure Mark, yours is not a turbo.
My NB8A with a standard engine would do a track day on about 1/2 a tank.
So an SE with 2 drivers would likely use more than twice that.
I would suggest arriving with a full tank, and around lunch time, make a call on whether to make a quick visit to Goulburn for a top up.

The "beginners guide" suggests 3/4 of a tank for a full track day in a non turbo, keeping in mind the extra 2ish supervised runs per first timer. I'm sure you know better from experience, but I decided to buy a 20L plastic jerry can from Supercheap for $20 for Justin Case.
Even if I don't need it for the track, carrying spare fuel is never a bad idea in my experience. I've got far too many stories to tell about running out, including that one time on the way to Broken Hill on my motorbike. The lesson I learned then is ALWAYS FILL UP lol.
