Does anyone have pictures from the 7th Sept Supersprint, or know of anyone that has pictures?
I need pictures to go with a report for the MX-5 club web site and magazine.

Nothing here yet either. I imagine something might arrive later tonight. For Round 3, which was likewise organised by NSWRRC, the gridsheet was sent at 4pm on the Saturday before.

Around 7:30 Verne. If you can get a spot on the hard stand area it's best. If you're there before me, save me a spot. I'll do likewise.

Last year the final round of the supersprint championship was also at SMP South, and despite a great effort by MX-5 club members, the ARDC won the 2013 championship by a measly 7 points.
Well this year the MX-5 club paid that back with interest, beating the ARDC in the championship by the same margin, ... oh, plus another 1000 points!

The top 3 clubs in the championship were
MX-5 Club of NSW 3219 points
ARDC 2212 points
Manly Warringah Sporting Car Club 1443 points

Congratulations to the 37 club members who were registered in the championship and drove at supersprint events this year. You are the ones who made this happen and you all contributed to the club taking a record breaking 10th NSW Supersprint championship!

Yesterday certainly turned out a hotter day than we expected, with 35.5 deg showing on my thermometer mid afternoon, so the top temp may have been even higher. Very tough on cars and particularly drivers after many months of temps mostly below 20 over winter.

Highlight of the day for me was when Ed Cory drove onto the dummy grid beside me and I got my first look at his new "aero" work. I just about kacked myself laughing when I saw what has to be the biggest wing I have ever seen on an MX-5. If there are any light plane owners around Canberra who suddenly found their aircraft was missing one of it's flight surfaces, then I think we know were they can go looking!
Even so, it obviously worked, and the bugger beat by 0.07s, for the 2nd time this year with that margin. Damn you Cory :-)

With a race engine gong in my car next month to bump up the power at the wheels by over 50%, I am so looking forward to the 2015 supersprint championship.

Thanks to all the MX-5 club members who came to supersprint rounds this year. You are a great bunch, and it was fun to drive with and/or against you!

It's not quite the same when is the tenth win, but ....

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!

Even if the Porsche guys had given their points to ARDC (as what looked like happening in the first few rounds), we still would have won by about 100 points.

Well done David for doing a great job with rousing the troops and ensuring we were all placed in classes that maximized the points available. The camaraderie shown throughout the season was better than ever.

Oops, I think I miscounted, it is "only" 9 NSW Supersprint Championship wins, ... still a record though :-)

Definitely was hot. Definitely not good turbo weather or road tyre friendly.
I now have a drive way full of rubber balls after washing the car, due to melting tyres.

David you and that Ed bloke just pipped me this time round, damn that high down force.
Ed would have had the same points as David if Steve Green didn't show up for the one round he did. David you must thank Steve.

Despite the influx of Porsches somehow I still managed 3rd in class 2C.

Congratulations all! :D 8) Pipped at the post by ARDC last year, the response was all we could have dreamed for!

Thanks to all who registered, and a BIG THANKS to all who carried through and took the fight up to ARDC over the seven rounds. Even if you only did one round, and came stone motherless last, THANK YOU!

A special thanks to David for all his work, and especially his behind-the-scenes work, which has played a big part in our success this year.

I pretty much was stone, motherless last!
Still had heaps of fun and learnt heaps throughout what was my first year in Supersprints.

Thank you very much David and the rest of you for all the help and making a newbie feel very welcome.

Will be back next year with some semi-decent rubber.

Bugger!

One lousy point! I'll get you for this, Steve, just you wait ....

The fact of the matter is though, after missing the first round, I could not afford to have any more difficulties. With the pointscore going so far down, if you miss a round it is absolutely vital to maximise every one of the remaining scoring rounds. When my towcar died and I had to substitute the road MX5 for round 4, even before I turned up for that round I knew at that point that my 2014 campaign was over, and all I could hope for was for David to stumble. Unfortunately for me, he didn't.

Congratulations David, I hope that you enjoyed our tussle as much as I did! I said at the beginning of the year that my class win in 2013 was not particularly satisfying because of the lack of competition. It just goes to show that you need to be careful what you wish for! This year there was competition in spades, not just from David but also from Anthony in one of the Manly Warringah MX5s.

As a result, this year was just so much fun. While I didn't take the crown, I can take some satisfaction from the fact that I ended with four wins to David's two, and Anthony's one. But the real buzz is in the friendly competition between all competitors. So for me at least, 2014 was the best year yet!

Bring on 2015 ...
