Club Track Day 1st June Wakefield

What a day!!

A bit of wet and a bit of dry

Quickest I was was a 13.64 (13.5 on the pbox)

Thanks again to all the organisers. I'll post some videos up soon of just how slippery it was out there

An awesome day! All the sliding made it entertaining, never mind the times... so stoked I made it out there and got home without bending anything ...

Thanks to all the organizers for braving the rain and cold to run a fabulous trackday...

Very slippery - Trucks had raced on the track last weekend so diesel and oil had been layered and then it rained on the 1st run so there was not a lot of grip. Most were 20secs slower than their normal times.
It stopped raining so everyone got a dry run in the middle of the day but grip was still down.
Then about 1:30 it rained again so lots decided it was time to call it a day with panels still straight.
This meant there was lots lots of sliding fun for the brave.

i said the same thing you did coming out of turn 2 in the wet on a number of occassions

it was rediculously slippery in the first session, never thought i would just use 4th and 5th gear on a lap and still get lots of wheelspin

massive thanks to all the officials on the day, there were better places to be than on the dummy grid yesterday and your efforts are appreciated by all competitors

highlight of the day was the dryish session and chasing Daniel down but then catching up to Mark and watching him torture his poor street tyres for a lap

Greg Unger took a large number of photos from the marshal's shelter at turn 2 and also at turn 10. Plenty of action in both locations he reports. He is very busy ATM but will send me a CD of the lot which I will edit and then post up. Unfortunately this will probably take a week. David, the photos are available for the Club to use as we see fit .....so go for it.

I set a lot of PBs yesterday as it was my first time on a wet track! A great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the day getting 7 runs in the end - thanks to Mike and the crew who cheerfully endured the weather.

A big thank you for the officials as always, I had a couple of visitors who were most impressed with the organisation and how smoothly they day went in trying conditions.

Nice to finally get some grip with some semi and set a PB on the drying track in session 4. I like a wet track but must say that it was pretty dam slippery in the first 2 sessions but at least we got a change to get a pretty dry run later.

What a fantastic day! I really enjoyed running in the wet, and then we had dry track in Run 4, which was like a bonus run for the day. Perfect!

I had 2x 360 spins in turn 2. The first one was on the first run, I was barely moving the car but the track was so slippery that even at such low speed I had a full spin! :shock:

Great way to warm up the tyres, though! :lol:

With the track mostly dry in Run 4, I made the most of it and managed to set a new lap record for the Clubman class (1:14.95)

^ I love the one-handed cornering with one hand resting on the gear knob, especially through turn 2! :lol:

Thanks to the organisers for the great day, everything was so well organised.

To be honest before going I was dubious about the shorter sessions but it is actually a great format since you never feel like you're sitting around for long before you're out again

Just enough time to check your tyre pressures, wipe off the mud if you have had an excursion, have a chat with your mates or neighbours, and then you are off again!
