Looks like it was a hoot - pretty shattered that I missed it, but we have discovered some fairly terminal engine problems with the Blue Rocket that will keep me out for a few months.

Hope to see you some time around Rd 3 or 4... :(

Here is a video from a run.
This is a 1.58.

I managed a 1.56 but the go pro had issues.
Getting sick of that now.

Sooooooo much fun.

Hope to see you at an event soon Zossy!

Sorry you missed it Chris. You might have been able to take it up to Chris Muir who took fastest in 4B in his Honda.
Here is my video contribution from the day. From session 3, showing 2 laps chasing Luke and Phil. The first lap is my PB for the day (1:51.661), and in the 2nd lap I am closing in on Luke and seeing his "interesting" cornering technique at turns 6 & 17. Even with the assistance of Luke's Towing Service down the straight the 2nd lap was a bit slower :-(

You need to follow us a bit more and see what else we can do. :D

Good driving BTW. Nice and smooth which is something a lot of others should learn from.

Just completed 8 track days with my first set of Yokohama A050's and they are just about bald and have lost their grip. One lap in T1 there was a moment when the rear stepped out, which wasn't a confidence building moment.

I was hoping to double the life I was getting out of the V70A's but no, they have lasted the same amount of time. They probably a half second a lap quicker than the V70A's but cost $800 more, so after a lot of medical expenses and panel repair work of recent times it looks like I'll be heading back to the V70A's for a while.

Sounds scary!

Thanks, but I was just following your advice to not overheat the new A050s by sliding them. I need them to last until the end of the year!

Hey, that's my engine bay at photo 32!

I really need to start learning everyone's real name and face. Maybe we should have our forum names on our cars, or on our shirts, or maybe felt penned on to our foreheads.

Nice to meet you Dweezle.

I notice you take the 'old' line at turn 9 (or is it 8 now), David. That extra run off added with the track upgrades can be used for good effect, but I noticed late in the day yesterday it was so full of crap it had limited grip. It maybe best to stick to the old line if everyone else is too!

Last minute decision to not bother towing up the Honda MX5, tried my daily instead.

Fitted some tyres on the Saturday have never tracked this 7 before, engine is relatively weak
compared to my last FD, this one puts down a relatively weak 210 ish rwkw and has the trademark
turbo heatsoak all turbz people love. Sequential turbos remain frustrating on track.

I did some of my signature parade laps, twin turbo makes me a lazy driver, fun to give it a shakedown,
looking at the VBOX data I was a solid 4-5 seconds away from a respectable lap.

VMAX in Rotary was 213 kph, the Honda MX5 has a best VMAX of 228 kph at SMP.

Anyone interested in Fuel Economy 16 Laps used 50 litres so thats about
64 ks for 50 litres or about 78 litres per 100 k's actually a little more frugal than my last rotary was.

Will bring the 5 for the next one.

So how far off the Monda was the FD's times on the curcuit?

How did The FD's ever win the Bathurst events using that much fuel? They must have fast to make up for the extra pit stops.

So in class 1b the Lotus Exige is actually an illegal car and from emails I have read, looks like it will be disqualified.
So that is even more points for the club along with Bryan, Stewart and Wade!!

Far from it David. I know I could learn a lot sitting beside you in the car, or better still you beside me pointing out my many short comings. I know I need to get some tuition to help me improve my driving.

If I could drive my car with anywhere near the car control and precision you have in yours I am absolutely certain I would be dissapointed with my current times.

He was a pain in the butt. I'm guessing he over estimated what time he could do as he was in front of Ralph and myself on the grid.
Half way through the first lap Ralph would be up to him and try to overtake, where he'd go into panic mode and not know where he should be on the track. Similarly when I caught him half a lap later. He left an inside gap under the bridge between T6 & T7 and slowed. I headed for it only to have him chop me off.

Now I'm very wary of drivers doing that as it cost me a few thousand $$$ last time at EC, so I'm not going to be caught out again.

My next passing attempt was coming onto the main straight where he did it again. Plenty of flashing lights from me resulted in him heading to the pits.

Then we had to go through this all again the next session. After that we had a quick word to the grid marshal for the third session to get him moved down the starting order but he didn't show up.

Fun Fact about the Bathurst Cars

Postby oztrackdays » Tue Mar 10, 2015 2:57 pm

EVERY SINGLE ENGINE FAILED EVERY TIME.

They were just still running about 1/3 down on power, chuck the engine out fit another one for next event.

Do not confuse Motorsport with Manufacturer reliability or honesty under any circumstances.

Tune in this car is comically safe to try and extend the life of the poor old engine.
