Anyone know if we will need logbooks to run the Nationals in our normal classes, even for road registered cars ? I think some national events required one, or threw you into an all comers road registered class with only a couple of capacity classes.

If so can anyone advise the minimum requirements to get a log book on a road registered car, particularly if a battery isolator switch would be required ?

Road regod cars haven't needed a log book for the last 7 Nationals, don't think they'll start now.

But there is nothing stopping you from running an LSD in a stock (Type 1) NA6, in my opinion. Some NA6s came with an LSD as standard, as mine did. If my car was stock, there is nothing stopping me from running Type 1 as far as I can ascertain.

No Aussie delivered 1.6 NAs came fitted with a LSD, therefore you can't run in Type 1 if you have one fitted.

See Rule 1.3 and then if your unhappy with that saying it was available in Japan, they will impose Rule 1.8 : the NSW Supersprint panel reserves the right to recognise or reject Makes and models at its descestion.

True Phil, but I'm pretty sure they'd have no issue letting a Eunos import compete in 1A with its stock viscous diff. However mine was an Aussie spec NA6 and fitting a viscous diff in that counts as a modification. Needless to say, I had an open diff and was only too familiar with shipping the inside wheel.

Rule 1.4 States:The vehicle must be a Production Car....

Production Car means a mass produced automobile, either
manufactured in Australia and/or overseas, the model of which is or has been
commercially available to the general public in Australia and/or overseas
as a new car through a manufacturer’s dealer network, and
(a) at least 200 examples of such model must have been
registered for normal road use in Australia and/or in the country of manufacture, and
(b) at least 200 examples of such model must have been produced in a 12
consecutive month period.

As more than 200 NA MX5s with LSDs were registered in their country of manufacture (Japan), they are legal.

In regard to 1.8, why would the panel choose to reject a Eunos Roadster with an LSD, or therefore, a Mazda MX5 with an LSD?

Picking up on a comment up-thread, I did a count of the number of people listed as points scorers at the last round - that is, the final points list.

I counted (IIRC) 138 - from what, 200 and a few. So something like 70 people paid their $50, and got zip for it. Some of those 70 probably squeezed out people who would have got some points, and some who wouldn't have either.

I have some thoughts on how to address this issue, and the cut-off of 200, which I will pass on to the panel, not that it would do anything for next year, but perhaps 2016.

I only mention it here to encourage anyone else who has ideas about the series to get their thinking caps on, and get the results to the panel http://www.supersprints.com.au/contact/

Yep $50 and Zip

Postby oztrackdays » Mon Nov 24, 2014 10:39 am

My battered cars weren't together on some of the weekends, and some of them clashed with other life events.

I think some people register just to get "cheap"(er)/(ish) access to the SMP track variety, and for that the $50 is a fair gamble.

Wakie is available on many occasions for reasonable $$ so can't see the point in turning up for the SS rounds there.

ED, you’re got to remember that the number of entrants per event is limited to around 120, so if you had 200 fully active participants you’d have a sh*t fight because 40% of those wanting to run cant.

In some events (principally the first two rounds) you need to get in as soon as the entry forms come out otherwise you miss out.
