Scotty if you have done the mx5 club sprint days or any other recognised club sprint days, that would be sufficient I am pretty sure for the AASA race licence.

Re: MX-5 CUP ROUND 5. Nov 29 & 30
I have done several events, but not for quite a few years.
Funnily enough, I think one of the first sprints I did I got reprimanded for "racing"
I shot off an email to AASA to check what is required but haven't got an answer yet... Might get there, but I'm prepared to do a few sprints if I have to.

Not even - from what I remember, you download the form, do your medical and submit the application, bring your P plates and you're good to go (as long as your car is booked and you have the right gear).

Speaking of the right gear... I was reading the AASA rule book and it mentions harness width and fitment but no mention on production dates... I have some old barely used belts from classic Adelaide (folks sprite) do they look at the production dates?
So lets go!

I have to say the scrutineers at Wakefield for AASA rounds generally do a great job. They are pretty thorough, they WILL generally check your helmet/gloves/boots (turning them inside out and checking labels). They will check harnesses but not usually harness labels, more for wear and they will check the seat fittings.

If you have done track driving for a few years it might be worth doing a few sprints or track days first anyway, just to freshen up your track driving with space for mistakes, before joining the close company of racing.
Just a thought.

A lot of people stay at Trappers (www.trappers.com.au), which is where we also usually meet for dinner, and across the road is the Old Bakehouse Motel (bakehousemotel.com.au), which can be a little cheaper. Both are on the south side of Goulburn giving fairly easy access out to Wakefield Park.

They probably haven't finalsed the schedule yet, but when they do I expect to see a link on this page

As David said the schedule isn't finalised yet, usually released on Wednesday or Thursday the week of the event.
I will post here when it is, and also what garages the MX-5 crew are in, make sure you come and say hi!
Cheers
Craig.
