Registered for the SuperSprint yes was Issued #747 back in Feb couldn't see the point in using the battered racecar
was waiting for the Honda Swap to be finished the dry sump was a killer and cost six extra weeks so missed the first
two rounds and didn't get a form in for the third.

Entry for Round 4 is in.

As to the car being registered it has plates, but the Engine Swap Identity check has to be done at Dickson Pits,
and the final engineering steps mainly the high speed braking test etc still being scheduled with the engineer.

I am sitting on the banks of the Murray at Mannum, SA en-route to Perth, so Britney won't appear at a state round until September at least.

Had a look around the Birdwood car museum which has an impressive display, but no MX5 !!

The steam dríven paddle boats on the Murray are fascinating to see in action.

Good to see Green Machine is racking up some class wins after the issues he had getting to the start line.

My average speed is about 90 kph with the poor old Falcon dragging my bed around, so I can guarantee that not one of the roads I go on are suited to an MX5.

Have fun and I may see you for the MX5 round at Wakefield, unless I get side tracked. The Nullabor awaits.

I’m sure you are still having a great time Peter. I hopefully will add some place points to subsidise you being away dodging camels. 8)

I’m really looking forward to this event, not only because it’s my first Supersprint of this season but I’ve only done the extended circuit once before and that was two years ago!!!

The wrong class selection before the season start means there will be only minor points for the Club this year from me. Should have entered SVC or 4C, not 2C as I’m up against three Porsche GT3’s, a 968CS, a Boxter S, two BMW M3’s and a Nissan 350Z. I know better for next year.

Oh I doubt you will know better for next year. Cars keep changing classes every year from what I've seen.
Last year I came 3rd in 2C as there was really only the M3 and 350Z that did every round.
SVC last year was a shocker!!! A multitude of modified EVO's and some Lotus Exiges. I'm talking cars that could pull 1'04-1'08s at Wakefield Park and absolutely annihilate a MX-5 at SMSP.
Hopefully the Porsche guys will disappear next season back to what they normally do, if they remember to book their own club events that is.

You could always ask Bob to change class as you have not run a round yet. The engine update may be a good enough reason to be in 3C or SVC which are both very uncompetitive this year.
You should be able to get 2nd or 3rd place in either. Plus then you won't be stealing a point from me in 2C :).
Carl Cosutar in 3C has the same Engine config as you, give him something to chase.
FORGET 4C, scary race cars await including race spec Porsche GT3's.

If you run without a passenger seat you are Type 3, a little bit lighter and can carry a set of rims. That was why I initially ran Britney in type 3, although she was otherwise a type 2, as removing the passenger seat was the only way I could fit in a set of race wheels.

Sitting on the beach at Whyalla watching the ore trains and ships come and go.

I dropped in for a look at Mallala on my way through. Looks like a fun track, shame it is so far from home.

Hi All,

I am thinking of registering for the super sprint to come and join you and hopefully contribute some points to the clubs points. I am really keen to do the Brabham Circuit on 20 July also having not done it.

I don't really want to register if this even is full already or I am unlikely to get a place. Can anyone please tell me if the even has been opened yet for registrations and if so if there are still places left?

Hope to see you on the track.

Thanks

I just checked online and saw the entry form is available but unsure if there are still places available.

My car is a 10AE, turbocharged with coil overs and running semis and other minor mods. I assume I could only get in SVC class. Is there a chance of picking up points in this class? Recently did a mid 1.09 at Wakefield.

Thanks

"forcedfive",
To score points in the NSW Supersprint Championship you have to register for the championship, but registrations closed earlier this year (March from memory). You can still enter and run at supersprint rounds, just without scoring championship points.

I was told a few days ago that there are still spots available for round 4 on 20th July.

Your car should be eligible for SVC, but might also qualify for 3C. I am not an expert on the regs, so I suggest you download them from the supersprint website and have a good look.

Thanks David. Oh well, I am in for the 20th in SVC and get to play but unfortunately cant contribute to points if that is the case.

As of this morning there was at least one place available for Rd5 in August.

Geeze, the year is going fast :(

Good result yesterday!

The Club is going gangbusters, we have pulled out a big lead but the battle is not yet won! Three rounds to go (back to the GP circuit in August, then the Club's round in September, and finish on the South Circuit EC) so we need to keep this momentum up. Some places still available for next round so get in there ...

Weather was ok, overcast and a bit of light mist on the windscreen a couple of times but rain was never an issue. Traffic was, some very strange behaviour on the day. People would bunch up on the out lap, one would overtake people on the out lap, and clean laps became a scarce commodity. Only four runs too .... :( though it is a long circuit and there were a lot of entries (99?).

We had a great tussle in 4B, all three MX5s in the 2.18s, with David  triumphing from me  with a hot lap in the last session, and a MW car bringing up the rear. All three of us were under David's old lap record, but David gets to keep his name there - well done David!

Agree about a great result, but our lead is relatively small, and 2 of the remaining 3 rounds are at SMSP where the ARDC usually has a good turnout. They could easily overwhelm us at the remaining rounds so I strongly encourage anyone in the NSW MX-5 club who is registered in the championship to enter the next round ASAP. We heard on Sunday that there are still a few spots available. The MX-5 club still needs to get as points as possible, and everyone can help us get over the line in the championship.

Synchronicity Ed! You beat me by 0.07s at the GP circuit in May, and I beat you by 0.07s yesterday :-)
That last session "hot lap" was right on the limit. I'll put up a video tonight and you will see just how sketchy it was.
Also, I didn't even know that I had the 4B record from last year!

Another great day at a unreal track.. Such a perfect mix of fast flowing and tricky technical sections!

I seriously couldn't sleep the night before, I was so nervous about taking on turn one at high speed... and the rest of the track for that matter!

But by the afternoon nerves turned to full on adrenalin and eagerness for the next session!

Great results for the club too!

Still haven't taken turn one flat though
