Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
Glad you responded Mark. I started to reply earlier today about the skills of Andrew and yourself and how spending more time in the seat resulted in the fantastic lap times but then my computer crashed and I gave up.
On the record keeping, I moved slightly away from the Club's classes to more accurately reflect the quickest MX5 per model with more of a Supersprint class slant, but still keeping standard classes with road tyres as the benchmark.
The Club's site only lists the records for that particular season. Due to changes in class rules over the years, it makes it too hard to accurately compare like for like on the Club site.
The table here, hopefully gives you a good guide of the times you can achieve if you drive well.

Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
Firstly thanks Phil (Charlie B) for updating this thread.
I mentioned the gap between road cars and non road with no thought of Andrews car in mind, I truly have never looked into it. I wouldn't even know the brand of his seat etc. My point was the difference between the two is often a grey area. If we are going by the CAMS schedule it makes complete sense.
I did send Guran a PM about the issue Mitch raised. Obviously its clarified now.
Personally I hope both Andrew and Mark smash the Lotus/Honda competition with any advantage attainable. Nothing beats the look on another driver's face when you punch above your weight.
all records will eventually be broken, the margin will vary but it will happen in time. It's a good motivating aspect!
P.s Deen is heaps busy hopefully when he frees some time up he can come and play!
P.p.s. we may need to start a similar thread for the EC north and south if its successful!

Already under construction.

Now with the small modifications to the old and the addition of the new new south circuit we end up with four circuits.
Of these only the south circuit will be used by the Club but all four will be used for the Supersprint series. Time will tell if I need to record all four circuits.

The basic spreadsheet that the Vics use works well enough, Phil. 7 classes and 9 tracks.

Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
Hi guys. Tony here, missing the racing terribly but house almost built and hope to drag the little beast out of mothballs and be racing again next year. Mark is right about the car, it is deliberately set up for drivability/handling, so that the driver can get the most out of it. The engine is the original in the car (which we bought second hand) to the best of my knowledge the head has never been off it. It has cams/cam adjusters/extractors (second hand)/cold air box/computer. Its power is usable as Mark says it has good torque - it needs to with a five speed box. It has lots of camber - it needs to as there is not much stiffening. It has original brakes with racing pads - it needs to the old Bendix Ultimates caught fire & crumbled! I recon drivability (for the car), time on the track (for the driver) and the right weather are the secrets to setting fast times.
BTW, it also has an LSD and coil over suspension (plus camber/caster/roll bar settings to suit me) - set reasonably soft. I drive it to & from the track & it gets used as a spare car. Its just about the most exciting thing you can drive - for 30mins - after that its hard work noise/twitchiness/cammy etc you get the drift (pun intended).
Miss you guys & the track. Its going to take a while to dial back in & I am not getting any younger. Tony W

Still naturally aspirated, did a 1:05.8467 at Wakefield with Shane Otten at the wheel. Not sure why the direct link to Natsoft isn't working but it's from MX5s Race 1 from the AASA state championships on 21/7/2012.

Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
New records from the Club meeting on Sunday 20 January have been posted on Page 1.
Todd Herring has been added in his NA, fitted with a turbo 2 litre motor and running slicks, with a time of 1:07.15. Todd had the fastest time of the day.
Yours truly has come back into the records, posting the first sub 1:10 lap in a road registered NC with a time of 1:09.65. (Barges do go around corners)
On a Club level, there were a few PB's and Club class records, namely Steve Green in his now unregistered NB8A posting a 1:09.88 in Class 9, Peter Feutrill in his NC with a 1:11.59 in Class 7 and Peter Browning, before his crash, with a 1:13.53 in Class 5.

Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
New records from the VERY cold 19th August 2013 Club Track day.
Luke Kovacic shave 0.14 seconds off his stock NC time to record a 1:13.64, I believe that no-one, be they pro (Warren Luff 1:14.1, John Boston 1:14.55) or amateur, has been around Wakefield faster than Luke.
Cameron MacArthur in his modified SE took almost 4 years to take 0.7 seconds off his previous record to set a time of 1:09.06.
Mark Hellmund returns with his NB8B (now boosted) to set a record time of 1:08.02 which is 1.33 seconds faster than his non boosted time.

Re: Wakefield Park NSW Club Class Records
Phil, Stuart McFadyen cut the Class 6 lap record to 1:12.68 at the Club Day on Monday in his NA8. Pretty impressive on street tyres, 14" wheels and a car that's pretty close to stock.

Well ... it's what the NSW Club calls an NA8A. It's a 96 NA8.
