An "eventful" and what could have been a very expensive drive through the hills to meet up with Scott (Shuey) yesterday in Hahndorf. Won't go in to the details, but suffice to say it was my lucky day .... :wink:

Was great to finally meet you Scott.

Maybe one of us will have a "real" SE at our next meet ... :mrgreen:

Exceeding the limit while overtaking.

Long story short, I politely explained the circumstances leading up to my decision to overtake and the cause of the excessive speed to get past. The officer listened politely and intently and asked me quite a few questions. He then advised me of the penalty for the offence - $750!! After checking all my details and my driving history and discussing it at length with his partner in their patrol car, he said that they believed that my decision to extract myself from my position in the traffic had been honestly based on being the safer option and advised me that under the circumstances, they were going to caution me!!!

Could have been a very expensive coffee ......
