Winton Raceway in North East Victoria will be having one of their famous Fun Days on Sunday July 16 2006, so stay over from the Drift event on Saturday and get some more track, but NO DRIFTING!!

Cost
Is $25 per driver and $25 per passenger

Programme:
Normally be there by 8.00 for scrutineering, but this can take some time.
Drivers Briefing at around 9.00 - 9.30
Driver only on track for 30 minutes sighting laps, then
Driver with passenger for 30 minutes, then
Driver only on track for 30 minutes, then
Driver with passenger for 30 minutes, then
Driver only on track for 30 minutes, and so on all day until about 4.30

Requirements:
Bring your car, an Australian Standard Approved helmet, the helmet can be either open or closed face, fire proof clothes that cover you from neck to ankle to wrist (cotton or wool clothes are good). Runners are not the preferred footwear, Blundstones boots (or similar) or any leather type shoe is preferable

Make sure your car has no oil/coolant leaks, fitted seat belts, battery is secure, wheels nuts are tights, no loose items in the car or boot.

The Car does not have to be registered, but has to road/race worthy. There are normally no checks done of lights except for brake lights except if it is an overcast, rainy day, then there may be checks for lights as well as wipers.

And very importantly, bring a smart, alert attitude, coz there is some very fast cars out there, whilst it is not a race meeting, some people bring race cars and the onus is on them to behave appropriately around first timers.

Food and drinks are available through a canteen

Does that mean that you don't need metal valve caps on your tyres or a fire extinguisher or a blue triangle? So a road car can just tuen up for a fling? If so, I'd be very interested.

Id belive so, I went to a drift event there, as long as ur battery was secure and ur car wasnt dripping fluids, and has socks over the resiovors it passed.

so i guess a dayily driver is no problem.

best to contract winton raceway themselves...

They're like sweatband things that go over your reservoir to stop any spillage. Useful or not is another thing....personally I just think it's rice unless your resevoirs do leak often.

the socks, generaly just a pair of old socks or a old cotton gardening glove, its just to stop any leakage of fluid on to the track. I kno my power steerings seems to leak sometimes out of the resiovour  but thats prb cause im always going from lock to lock so quickly hahaha :P

but yeah power steering and brake mastercylinder would be all.

like it said in the post, make sure your car doesnt leak oil or coolant. just a preventive messure the socks imo.

is there any chance of other people hitting your car? (ie will the cars be racing close to each other?)

I will most likely be there, my car needs some new tyers

pitty its going to take 6-8 weeks for them to come from Japan...

But its a fun day, so the likely hood of people hitting each other should be very low. The drives breifing nodout will explain to the drivers that they should take care because there will be begineers out there on the track as it is a fun day, come and try.
