Yeah that was great - as a newbie it was a fantastic first run, that is until my front bumper was introduced to the armco...

A turn tightened a little more than I expected, I braked, Mexi over-steered and kissed the railing. Will need some panel and paint work done on bumper, corner of bonnet and a new headlight (its not broken but grazed). Looks like a trip to the MX5 factory is in order first thing Monday morn...

So as you can probably imagine I'm pretty down - feeling like an absolute goose as it's not the ideal introduction to the club and my lil baby is hurting. Will prob post a pic tomorrow if I can summon the courage to go and look at her. Just glad that no one was following too close behind me as I would feel a hundred times worse if I had hurt someone else's car in the process.

Other than that I had a great night - Big thanks to Al and Rod for organising and their hospitality.

oh and yeah, thanks to rod and al for looking after us. al especially made me feel very welcome, and rod was busy snapping lots of photos.

I love the reefton, but that was possibly my most enjoyable run run through it. Had a great time.

Sorry to hear that, Shane. Like Fatty I can't remember seeing any bent cars hope the fix isn't too expensive.

It happened on a fairly sharp left hander on the final leg. There was a significant gap between my head and tail cars and after the incident I took things really conservative.

A few cars passed me (made sure everything was OK first) then about 3 of us got separated from the rest of the group. I think we missed the turn off for the final meet up so we decided to head for home. That's probably why you guys didn't see the ding.

Thankyou Al for organising an excellent night, and well done for ordering good weather for the drive. Somtimes its nice to have a leisurely club drive with the leader of the opposition rather than the usual 'boys day out' on a 'spirited' run.

Thanks everyone for your support last night, Kijima does not matter if your up the front gunning it or down the back having a cruise, just as long as your there and having fun thats what counts.
Good to see you and the good lady out last night as well.
Mexi, i am so sorry to hear of your encounter, is there anything i can do to help? i have a few contacts in panel repairs in the North if that can help?

Mexi, I feel your pain. Nearly had the same thing on the run down to King Lake. Came through one tight lefty to find the cars in front breaking for a SLOW 4 by 4. Had to break with the wheels in a left lock. All I saw was sign posts coming toward me and listening to squeeling breaks. Fortunately pulled up in time and no damage. Certainly makes the blood pump!

that was you huh? so i think you were behind me. did you happen to see that roo jump across the road a little bit before that ? ? i missed it by about 30cm's , doing about 70k's at the time :shock:

Stuck behind a 1.6 eh? All we heard was the screeching of slipping drive belts as they became a distant spec in the rear viw mirror!!!!!

*hangs head in shame* It was an embarassing sound.
I know why they keep slipping. There is "chunking" of the alt belt.
Brand new belt too. Oh well....time to put on the original one.
