MX5 Club - Al & Rodney's Reefton Run 14/3/10

Postby cshaks » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:32 am

Thanks again Al and Rod!
It was a fantasic morning, a perfect day for a run like that, and a very good turnout from club members as well.
I had an absolute ball as usual!!!!
It's a bit of a shame that the powers that be have now dropped the speed limits, but it is still one of the best pieces of road within 2 hrs of Melbourne!
Glare was sometimes an issue going over the top of the first section, but who cares!!! It was and absolute blast of a run!
If there is any run on the club calender which is a "must do", for me it is this one!

Thanks again to everyone who organized the run, and to those who came along to make it such great time.

Cheers
Chris
(I won't mention the 4WD on the black spur though.......Grrrrrrrrr)

Indeed, there's always a danger, but a good danger, of it becoming a daily!

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Just in case someone wasn't aware, this run is being held again this Sunday (27th February). Details in last months mxtra. Meeting at 7.30am for 8.00am departure at same meeting point.

I am hoping I can make it this year as this is a must do for people that like mountain driving :D

I was planning on going as well. I just have to manage to wake up. We have a party the night before.

Does anyone know how long the run is for. Do they stop for a bite to eat anywhere. I am always hungry :)

Will be there, went on a couple of these when they used to be a night run, always lots of fun, music to my ears hearing a lot of MX5s screaming around the mountains at night.

I preferred the night run as well but general consesus was that there were too many risks with wildlife after someone had a deer come out of the bush. I am often the first car up the mountain for this drive and haven't had a problem yet but can understand the concern.

The main stop during the drive is in Marysville where people can stop and get coffee and breakfast at the bakery. This is after the reefton spur and before the run back into town through the black spur.

The Reefton Spur run was cancelled on Sunday morning due to rain. :(

It will be rescheduled for in a couple of weeks (date to be confirmed). Stand by for further details. :)
