I'm with you Red Dragon.
We all pay road tax and are entitled to use the road and I havn't seen an mx5 that is slower than the bloody mini busses running the GOR

Thanks for feedback. Keep it comin'...
Just to clarify as I didn't note this in original suggestion:
I'm only talking 2 minutes between each groups set off, will probably join up en route anyway - not specifically out of concern for other road users at all (esp mini buses) but to allow leaders to slow down just before all the really good bits (so we can all go at a reasonable pace through these areas such as Anglesea to Lorne twisties) - if we are in a long endless line this is going to be hard to do.
I reckon photo ops will be just as good, as not a lot of time between groups at all (we will make sure)
However, pls keep feedback coming as we want to make sure it is set up for the best advantage of everyone that turns up (we are not stuck on this 'idea' in other words) - any alternate suggestions very welcome.

Well I would love to see a nice long line of cars leaving Lorne so I can get some awesome photos from here http://www.flickr.com/photos/lsear/2807906948/ Wow, thanks Damo! Groups of 20 will probably work though.
Other than that it will give me less scope for photos I don't dislike the group idea, if I was just driving and not trying to get photos I would think it is a good idea. I'm just happy if we stop for at least 5-10 minutes in Lorne and Anglesea/torquay to give me the oppertunity to get a bit ahead.

Come along IB1ZA,
I will be there, but im only going to be cruising along at my own pace. I dont care if im right at the back, I dont see the point in thrashing my car on a "cruise".
If people want to drive like tools do it on a track, not a public road.

Only a week to go - hopefully the weather will be a lot better than this weekend. Looking forward to it whatever happens.
Joni, we are planning to pick up the convoy in Geelong Road near Kororoit Creek Road, as this is much easier coming from our direction. Will probabaly ring you to confirm.
Cheers.

IB1ZA - Of course .. passengers are allowed! No worries
GREEN_COMET - Hopefully no one will be driving like tools as it's not really the place to be a tool as a long way to the bottom if you spin off!!!
Maybe we should have said on the flyer "No tools allowed!" From what I hear there are a number of cars set up for motorsport that will also be at the end of the convoy running in mods or motors in prep for track days, so you won't be alone green_comet.
BEN SALE - That photo location looks awesome Ben & will take a great shot. We will arrange to have you get ahead if you would like, just think about where on the journey and we will allow for it - maybe leaving early from Lorne toilet/coffee stop?
RED DRAGON - With Kororoit Creek rd-Geelong Rd location, we will be cruising past at 6.10-15am, just get ready to get onto freeway when you see us or wait under overpass/bridge on Geelong Rd, which is what some other people did near there last year. If you are joining us here please remember to sign in at Torquay, as we want to get an accurate record of how many people/cars do come along. Thanks.
NICK VINER - Same with you guys - look forward to catching you at far end of bypass, say 6:50am ETA, however have my mobile ready, but I am sure you won't miss us...
See you then - did a reccy run today with no dramas, lovely run along that new bypass, will make things easier for a lot of cars rather than Geelong with so many traffic lights .
Fingers crossed for warm, blue & clear weather ...

I had almost forgotten about the run of the year
A run not to be missed, especially given that I had to cancel the one earlier in the year due to the bush fire danger.
My thoughts on splitting up the group. Yes, it would be nice to keep all the cars together. However if I think back to my very first club run in 1998, it was on the GOR, and I had only just bought my first 5. I was very much a noob, and felt intimidated by the voume of cars and while we stayed well within the then 100KpH speed limit I found it too much. Move forward a few years and I was now the opposite... So I can see both sides of the equation, therefore I am for giving people the choice as to where they want to place themselves in the convoy. Also from a management/safety point of view one huge group is a nightmare to coordinate...whereas a few smaller groups are easier and therefore safer...just my 2c worth.
