Road Trips. Any interest?

What sort of interest is there for overnight road trips?
Nothing formal, no car club or Cams connections, just off to enjoy the roads, scenery and company of whoever goes.
I'm thinking of something along the lines of what I used to do as a motorbike rider way back. A mate and I might decide to do a ride to say Walcha from Sydney, stay in accommodation there and return the next day. Word gets out and a few others connect up for the ride and social interaction.
I'm retired and enjoy mid-week drives. I'd like to do longer ones say 2 or 3 days.
So who'd be interested in doing that sort of thing or have another idea along the same lines?
