SET SAIL IN MARCH - Barge Racing Team Fun Run!
Join us on the first Barge Racing Team fun run!
All cars/barges welcome. Mixed car run.
5AM SUNDAY 3RD MARCH
Leaving McDonald’s Heathcote at 5:30am sharp.
NATIONAL PARK > MACQUARIE PASSx3 > KANGAROO VALLEY > BERRY > JAMBEROO MOUNTAIN > MACQUARIE PASS.
Beginning from Heathcote McDonald’s, making sure all our smoke pipes are glowing bright we will leave at 5:30am for a relaxing morning drive through the Royal National Park. From here we will continue our scenic drive on Sea Cliff Bridge along the ocean paying homage to all the barges out at sea.
We will hit the legendary Macquarie Pass just before 7am. After we blast up to the top of the mountain, some gentlemen can choose to have a rest stop at the Robertson Pie Shop OR follow me for another sail of Macquarie Pass – DOWN & UP AGAIN (don’t adjust your monocle because you read that correct!). We will all stop at the Robertson Pie Shop, to oogle over each other’s barges and check the masts are secure (BRT stickers and mugs will be available too).
Leaving the pie shop, we head onto Fitzroy Falls and the Kangaroo Valley twisties. After all the jolly good fun we will end up at the pretty town of Berry. We will have a long break here to grab some food (I can book a cafe for breakfast if people like).
After our hearty meal, Sir Adam Reginald will be leading us back to Sydney via Saddleback Mountain Rd and Jamberoo Mountain Rd. Making our way back down Macquarie Pass and back from whence we came!

Hi Neil,
Im interested in this run. How fast is the pace of this run? Might there be two groups for people of differing speed preferences?

Brendan, this is event has nothing to do with MX5 club, it is just a bunch of enthusiasts going for a drive. look for Barge Racing Team on Facebook.
A lot of people there drive MX5s but there are also FT86s and other barge-like vehicles.

Thanks Luckycat,
I am aware that it is not affiliated with the MX5 club. Just wondering how fast the drive will be or if there will be room for someone to tag along the back if it is fast.

Re: SET SAIL IN MARCH - Barge Racing Team Fun Run!
hi mate,
It's the first ever Barge run so I am yet to see. I will be leading - I cruise in the straights and go a little faster in the twisty corners - such as Macquarie Pass, one of my favourite bit of roads.
I am not sure how many people will attend and how many types of cars we will have. If there are a lot of cars we may have 2 groups. Drivers in larger cars or that would like to drive at a casual pace should cruise at the back of the line. The route is fairly simple to not get lost.
The run is about having fun with a mix of cars and enjoying roads such as Macquarie Pass.
I expect the first run to have predominantly MX5s, but would love to see a good mix.
Tell your car friends if you think they may also be interested.

Re: SET SAIL IN MARCH - Barge Racing Team Fun Run!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A WAYPOINT RUN. THIS IS NOT AN ORGANISED CONVOY RUN AND THERE IS NO RUN LEADER TO FOLLOW
On a Barge Run there is no code of conduct, you are responsible for whatever you chose to do. We bring to your attention to the fact that:-
· Barge Racing is not a club with rules or regulations that can be enforced.
· There is no convoy or suggestion that everyone drive as a group, everyone is aware that they drive as individuals and:-
- Whether they follow the recommended route or chose a route that is more to their liking is up to you alone;
- There is no run leader and everyone drives at a pace at which they are comfortable either independently or jumping on a bunch travelling at the pace that you are happy to join, you are not obliged to join any group on the drive.
- You are free to overtake me or anyone else or drop off the back, nobody will be a sweep or be responsible if get lost for any reason;
- Everyone is personally responsible for how they conduct themselves on the road, how fast they chose to go and the consequences of their decisions and actions;.
· Everyone is free to join me or drive on past when I stop at the Robertson Pie Shop at around 7:15, I plan leaving at 8:15 so people can use the time on the Macquarie Pass or whatever they chose to do. I will stop to stretch my legs at Kangaroo Valley at around 8:45. I plan to should get to Berry by 9:15am and you are free to join me for a Barge Breakfast if you wish. I do not guarantee a seat at the breakfast table but you can indicate your desire to join us at brekkie on the Facebook event page and we will try to accommodate you at the café I am having breakfast.
· Regie, Guy and I will be driving back home through Jamberoo mountain. You are welcome to drive this route or make own way home.

Re: SET SAIL IN MARCH - Barge Racing Team Fun Run!
Brendan old chap,
This is the run I mentioned in the thread you started. I have no intention of exceeding this State's legislations, so feel free to join our merry bunch!
I'm happy to travel along at your pace so that you can feel part of the celebration that is MX5
