MX500 NURBUSHRING Sponsored by MX5 ManiaDate: Saturday 17th November
Meet: McDonalds at Mt Colah
Time: 6.30am for 7.00am startAn early morning start as we have many great roads to cover on this run which I’m sure you will agree is a classic “when-can-we-do-that-again” run all the way to Bulahdelah to Robyn’s Cafe (Patrick Bramston's retro diner in the Mountain View Motel) for breakfast between 9:00am and 9:30am.
After breakfast you have an hour to kill before we head across to The Buckets Way, then up to Stroud and green Karuah Valley. Then across to Dungog, Morpeth and the Lower Hunter via great MX5 roads. A Pitt stop and then its home.
RSVP: No registration required. If you wish to joint this run then please record your intention by text, email and/ or placing your name on the Forum to help with planning & catering for breakfast.

Just returned from our annual jaunt on the MX2012 Run, joined by a member of the 156 Club. Our road trip included three passes of the Nurbushring on our way north to run all the twisty bits across the Great Dividing Range.
The report is that the road surface remains fair to good for the whole 14km of its course with all the usual debris one associates with an abandoned major highway through forests. Plenty of leaves to stir up as you pass bye and the occasional tree ranch or two to watch out for. On some four lane sections without cement barriers grasses up to 600mm have taken root amongst the dividing lines but otherwise the lines are as fast as ever if you stay inside the green bits and barriers.
The Nurbushring is as much fun as it has always been and a great way to spend your spare hour between brekkie and a run home through the Hunter later in the morning it sure beats a walk along the river bank
If you have not run the course before there is an article on Great MX-5 Roads on page 23 in the Summer/Autumn edition of Torque on the Club's webpage at
http://www.mx5.com.au/nsw/Club%20Torque ... 281%29.pdfIf you have recently run this section of secluded roadway then post your experiences on this thread for all to see
as it is one of the all time great MX-5 pieces of road but ranked behind the Corkscrew.

Laguna Seca is a few twists and turns on a descent.
The Corkscrew to which I refer is more is more like Monte Carlo with 100 assorted tight and sweeping corners with a few straight sections in between on the Armidale Road as it twists & turns and rises & falls its way up and along the escarpment between Nymboida and Tyringham over all types of surfaces.
The corners are tighter and more technical than the Oxley Highway with around 200 sweeping corners on a smooth surface that is like a waltz with the road and an altogether superior challenge to 14kms on Wootton Way apart from the pace of the run which is awesome and more akin to the Nurburgring in the Australian bush.

At least the reasons for withdrawing is not that it is too long!
