I did the Great Alpine Rd a couple of months ago. Make sure you include it Regie, it's awesome.
Cheers

I did that in the Grand Carnival...beautiful roads...less exciting car, but hey, it was comfortable and had a load of torque!

That was the first ever drive I did in my NA6. Drove it home to newcastle from Melbourne, same route.

Not sure on dates yet. I'm waiting on work to get back to me, I'm doing a delivery flight from airbus in January sometime :D

Might even wait till the school holidays are over, the GOR might be less crowded...possibly

If you want a good clear run on GOR (irrespective of time of year really as it's always crowded... but worse in summer) you need to leave Melbourne by 5am... It's a long day if you go all the way to the apostles so it's not really a bad thing to leave at that time.

I can highly recommend the Targa High Country roads around Mt Buller / Mansfield area. The Reefton Spur and the roads around that region are worth a drive too. The Black Spur is the best known road around there and is a great road, but too much traffic... There are quite a few less well known roads around there which are worth a drive :)

The thing you'll love about the roads down here is that the speed limits are typically more realistic than they are in NSW, so you can actually have a lot of fun without doing anything (too) illegal.

I'd love to do this! Getting the visa department to approve is another... I could to the high country route, into Melbourne and work (skip the GOR stretch) then join you guys again on the return leg?

Hmmm...

Dates and how much notice we're planning on having will be the deciding factor for me, but I'll express my interest. GOR is incredible as is the Alpine roads... I would love to check out The Black Spur.
