MX5 BREAKFAST CLUB - BRASS MONKEY RETURN RUN BACK HOME
Meet: Outside Goulburn Soldiers Club, Belmore Park, Market Street, Goulburn
Time: Sunday 18 July 2009 AFTER theAHOC Brass Monkey breakfast at 10.00 am for 10.15 am start.
If you are contemplating joining the Brass Monkey, top down and very cool roadster run and have not made plans for a drive back to Sydney, you can join a band of intepid survivors with all their appendages and sense of humour still intact on the MX5 BreakFast Club Return Run for cars on the 2010 Brass Monkey.
The usual BreakFast Club spirited run to the prevailing conditions on as many convenient back roads as possible stopping for lunch in the Southern Highlands after taking some time after breakfast to look at the exotica parked in the streets around Belmore Park. If there is any support for a coffee and/or tour of the 19th Century Steam Mill & Goulburn Brewery http://users.tpg.com.au/adslcy22/Brewery/Welcome.html we will drop in as we leave town on our way out to Bungonia and places north to Marulan.
Where we go for lunch will depend on what time we get away from Goulburn and how many cars & people need to be accommodated. A lunch venue will be decided on the day. The overall plan is to be able to get back to the urban areas before the returning day-trippers.
Further Information (Brass Monkey & the Return Run Sheet, Map etc.,) see the posting on the NSW Events page in the Forum from 1 July 2010.
RSVP: You should be registered for the Brass Monkey with no pre-registration requirements for the Return Run. Please post expressions of interest on the Forum to give some idea of the numbers before the day.

MX5 BREAKFAST CLUB BRASS MONKEY RETURN RUN
The first cars should arrive in Goulburn before 8:00 am as breakfast is scheduled to start at about 8:30 am. There are no tables reserved for breakfast therefore “first in is best dressed/seated”. The accommodation at Goulburn is tighter than it was last year at Bathurst or the year before in the Hunter Valley.
I will call a briefing at 10:00 am directly opposite the entrance to the Goulburn Soldier's Club in Belmore Park with a view to getting away by 10:15 am. I have posted in the links page a Route Map which also notes where we will stop to reform on route to the Southern Highlands. At each reforming point there is a reference to the kilometres travel since Goulburn and intermediate distances between points marked on that map. There is no traditional Run Sheet.
Most people know their way around the Southern Highlands and if you don't allow gaps to form or go off the back then you won't get lost on the Highland Way which is a series of local roads with good signage all the way to Moss Vale. The road to Berrima from Moss Vale or Bowral is equally well sign posted.
The old Goulburn Brewery opens at 11.00 am which too late to include in the schedule . The aim of the Return Run is to get back into town before the punters returning from their Sunday drives block up the roads. According to Google the run back to lunch should take 2 hours which I think is conservative but a tour of the brewery would take at least an hour from my experience and rule out getting home early.
At present my intention is to stop for lunch at Berrima. I am open to suggestions to stop anywhere in the Southern Highlands for lunch that can accommodate the number of people who are joining the Return Run. If we go to Berrima with less than 20 people then we do have the choice of going to the White Horse Inn. the Old Bakehouse or a meal in a cosy café. As we should get to our lunch venue around noon I do not see any reason to make a reservation at a cafe. If more than 20 people participate then there is always the Surveyor General Hotel for a bar-b-que or a meal from their carvery. One alternate venue would be the hotel at Robertson though there are plenty other venues that people may want to suggest on the day for a final decision .
Set out below is the links page to the Route Map and a copy of the MX5 BreakFast Club Run Rules and an Incident Sheet.

Hi Guran,
See you at Goulburn . If you get to Goulburn before breakfast is finished come into the Soldiers Club for a coffee . We should try to find some time over lunch to finalise the MX500 for 12 September 2010 .

The MX5 Return Run is a drive back to the city from the Austin Healey Owners Club's annual Brass Monkey charity run . In 2010 to Brass Monkey is going to the Goulburn Soldiers Club from Casula for breakfast being served from around 8.30 am.
Everyone should register for the Brass Monkey as the event is raising money for charity with a breakfast thrown in for good measure. You are probably too late too pre-register but that does not preclude your participation in one or both event . Full particulars for the start and cost of the Brass Monkey Run is on a separate posting on the NSW Events Page headed 'AHOC - Brass Monkey 2010 - 18 July 2010".
In previous years AHOC officials have taken late entries at the door of the breakfast venue as it is difficult in the dark before the 6.00 am start to find anyone unless get to Bunnings early . If breakfast happens to be booked out then I recommend the Cycle Deli at the corner of Clifford and Ellesmere Streets a short distance back from Belmore Park for a hearty breakfast.
See you at Goulburn with thermals on .

Hi People, I'm looking for material for the next issue of Club Torque. Anybody like to say anything about the Return Run or have some pics? If so I will shamelessly plagiarise it for the mag. GT Blue Ant
