South Beaches Run - Sunday 23 May @ 4pm
Posted: Fri May 21, 2010 1:25 pm
A friend of mine is studying photography and he has asked me to collaborate with him on his latest assignment. My involvement is two fold. One, to help a friend and two, to use his assignment for a blog post at http://chicaneculture.com
His assignment is to pick a social issue and present it in a photo-interview style. An aspect of the assignment is to open social dialogue around the issue and provide a catalyst for social change. He is a car enthusiast and has chosen to tackle the issue of 'hoon perception in society'.
This is a perfect opportunity for us as car enthusiasts to have our say, but more to the point, to go for a cruise while talking sh*t and taking photos.
From us he will need a few easy questions answered (can provide on request), a few photos with our cars and a model release signed. Now this isn't as serious as it sounds. The photos don't have to be a portrait of you and the model release doesn't have to have your real details.
The assignment is due at the end of this month so we kind of need to get a move on this. I was hoping to get together this Sunday arvo for a couple of hours. I've already asked some people from here and there is a bit of interest to help out. I just wanted to extend the offer to anyone that might be free this Sunday arvo.
The meet is @ 4pm on Sunday 23 May @ Riverside Drive off Rocky Point Road in Sandringham. It’s a car park with plenty of space and can be accessed from Rocky Point Rd from either direction. Please see map.
We'll hang around for half an hour waiting for the 'golden light' of sunset. At around 4:30 we'll take off and cruise the beaches from Dolls Point, to Brighton, La Perouse, Coogee, Bronte and finally to Bondi. We can head on up to the lighthouse from there which is only a bit further up from the beach.
My friend will be taking photos of us as we're driving so we hope to get some good panning shots as well as stationary ones at the meet and end.
If you have any questions you can contact me, George, on 0438 438 567. Hope to see some of you there and please do let me know here if you intend to come.
