More freakish stuff. I would see the car you now own at work every so often.

Boys. Forget the run through Natio and come on the Club run. Meet at MacDonald’s Eastern Creek at 9:00 for a 9:30 start.

Tossing up between this Razorback Run or National Park ---> viewtopic.php?f=63&t=40735

Is there something special about this Razorback run? I tried to google it but didn't come up with much :frown:

(On a side note, is there a way to have MX5 club events posted on the forum? It'd be great to have reminders of all the upcoming runs)

So there is an old razor back road??? Damm, I went for a run up the normal razorback mountain rd as my grandfather used to use it as a test road for his MG's way back. However I was really disapointed by the road, 2 lanes and really easy... Thought it didn't seem right, guess not!

Something like this I guess:

Google Maps route

I'd love to be there but will be on the Central Coast this weekend for my niece's 16th birthday party.

BTW, Razorback Range is of interest mainly for it's historical significance. The road was first cut back in 1825. The lookout is pretty good I hear. I recall that Paul Cockburn wrote an article for MOTOR recently, where he reminisced about growing up in the Wollondilly area and driving the country roads. Haven't been able to put my finger on that issue yet.

Hello everyone, pretty good guess Guran, but wait there's more.
You'll have to meet us at the M4 service centre on sunday at 9 am for 9.30 am departure.
Looks like great MX5 top down weather, see you all there.
Lunch has been changed to Campbelltown Catholic Club for an affordable great buffet.
Any questions, please message me, Paul.

Found it. Check the December 2008 issue of MOTOR, page72. Paul Cockburn takes his daughter for a drive up Razorback in a Bentley Continental GT.

FYI a history lesson paraphrased from Wikipedia.

Anthony Hordern's tree is located at the Razorback lookout. Anthony Hordern and his family owned the largest department store in Sydney, which was originally established in 1823. A huge six storey building was opened by them in 1905, called The Palace Emporium. It was controversially demolished in the early 1980s for the infamous 'World Square' development, which remained a hole in the ground for nearly twenty years, before finally being completed in 2004. The crest on the Hordern coat of arms was a budding tree, the motto: "while I live I grow". Mysteriously, the tree on the Hordern family's estate at Camden, upon which idea of the crest was based, died soon after the Palace Emporium store was sold and then closed in about 1970. A new tree was subsequently replanted at the lookout site.

That was a nice day out with a good turn up. Some quiet country roads that I haven't been on and the countryside was looking lovely and green after all the rain. Unfortunately I was in my Mirage while my MX5 is getting a new rear bumper cover fitted after some tool decided to run into the back of me. Even so it was a nice drive.

A big thanks to PAU61L for organising everyone and everything.

Yeah, it was a very good day. The drive was fantastic, and the turnout was impressive. And what a great bunch of people!

If i have one criticism though, the direction sheet given to us at the start were woeful. The instruction were useful so long as you didn't miss a single turn... otherwise, they were little to no help. And while the directions had street names (some of which were altogether wrong), there were no suburb names, which meant I couldn't look them up in my sat nav. The second time I got separated from the group, I found the group again purely by accident.

All in all though, a good day, a good drive, and a good bunch of people.

Great run on roads I'd never been on. It was a pity some of us got caught behind a flat top ute going up the twisties to Razorback, although Mrs CB was happy about that.

Yea Paul set the run off a street directory and they'd changed one of the street names and Mary Street wasn't on it but it is the responsibility of EVERYONE on a club run to keep up with the car in front. That way no one gets lost, which was critical yesterday especially because of the number of singles on the run.
