After the success of last year's Iceberg Run, I've been planning for the Iceberg mk II.

I will be going on a recce run down the south coast checking things like morning eateries, and also to determine distances and trip times...

Any cars interested in an early morning autumn run through the south coast, please be joining me.

Likely date is the 10th May (a sunday), at 6am from heathcote maccas.

A breif overview is from sydney through the national park to bulli, then down mt Kiera, and south through Macquarrie Pass, and to finish at Huskisson (via the kangaroo valley).

I'm planning on the super-twisty backroads... so I'm not sure how long the run will be, but it is approx. 200km one way.

I found a video on youtube of some guy driving a 5 down there, doesn't seem to be going very fast but it looks like a nice drive, hmm, something about it seems sorta familiar as well :P

i used to do something similar with the Healey Club .. we called it the Brass Monkey Run

We used to leave from the old Australias Wonderland carpark and head to Lithgow ...
Middle of winter
Heaters off
Windows down
Roof down ...

We used to raise a fair amount of money for hospitals and kids things .....

Have a think about that .....

That's exactly where I got this idea from. The Healey club put on a specacularly well organised run, and I would encourge any mx5 club members to get tix to the official Brass Monkey. My only criticism is that the Healey Club tends to go along main highways to the destination, which I find a little dull to drive. Of course this is made up for by having 100s of vintage cars all running together!

- but I was thinking more along the lines of a twisty road, back to basics, early morning backroads trip. Something more akin to what MX5s are better at - 70-100kmh with corners, rather than 110kmh in a straight line the whole way.

Just got this off the Austen Healey Owners website:
SUNDAY 19 JULY - BRASS MONKEY RUN - Meet at Caltex Service Centre M4 6:00am sharp for run to Bathurst RSL for Breakfast - tickets from Terry Bancroft) - SOFT TOPS MUST BE DOWN

O wow! That's crazy, from RNP to Jervis Bay! Looks almost like the path I took down to Jervis bay not too long ago =D Possible to get about 3 weeks heads up? So I can take that day off, seeing how you guys love Sundays >.<

Just to clarify, the 10th May is just the recce run, right? The actual iceberg run will be during the depths of winter, as per last year ??? Anyway, count me in for 10 May.
