Hunter Chapter Coffee & Lies

I might join you for that. I was planning at being in Nelson Bay from that day for a few days. Might as well drop by and say hello.

Where do you normally go for the cruise?

Dunno, I will not be bringing my MX-5 along in case the psycho sheila I ran into last time turns up.

After the last Coffee & Lies we were leaving the Club and I was having a chat with Phil & Helen in the underground carpark. While we were talking, an old Falcon station wagon made its way down the ramp, swung wide and collided with a new, small Mercedes. We wandered over to the cars and inspected the damage. The Mercedes had a large scrape and dint in the bumper. The driver of the Falcon wound down her window and asked if there was any damage. We pointed out the damage and she said that she would report it when she went into the Club.

She looked a bit intoxicated or on drugs and we naturally doubted that she would report it. I told Phil & Helen that I would go back upstairs and check to see if the woman reported the accident. When I went back up the woman had just signed in and was leaving the front desk. I approached the employee behind the desk and asked if the woman had reported the accident. And surprise, surprise....she hadn't!

I explained what had happened and the Floor Manager and Security Officer was called. They spoke to the woman who denied hitting the Mercedes. We all went down to the underground carpark to examine the damage. When confronted with the damage, the woman accused me of reversing into her! I laughed and told her it wasn't my car; I didn't know who owned it! The Floor Manager went back upstairs to call the police and to check the security video.

That's when this woman abused the hell out of me. I didn't know anyone could put so many "F words" in one sentence!

While we were waiting for the police, the owners of the Mercedes were called over the intercom. They were a retired couple who had bought the Mercedes for their retirement. They were pleased the car was going to be repaired by the other woman's insurance company.

The police breath tested the other woman and she passed; they didn't check her for drugs.

By the time I gave my statement to the police and left to go home it was after 10:00pm. I felt I had done the right thing. It can be easy to just turn a blind eye and walk away when we see a crime committed and think that it "has nothing to do with me; I don't want to get involved." But if I had walked away that scumbag woman would have got away, and it could have ruined the retired couple's Christmas.

My only worry is returning with my MX-5. If she sees me again and my car you can bet the psycho bitch will have a go at it! :twisted:

Anyway, we hope to see you there Hammer, and I hope you are driving your "new" NA.
