Sydney Clay Barring Day

Postby ducktape69 » Thu Sep 28, 2006 6:57 pm

Wash at CAREWASH on Norwest Boulevard.

then we will all follow to someones house or any large area which has SHADE COVER to do the rest:
CLAY
POLISH
WAX/Sealant

i dont know much about detailing myself, so im sure this day will be a really good learning curve for everyone.

Bring all your detailing materials.

NO SPECIFIC DATE SET YET!!! ANY DATE BETWEEN 30TH SEP - 3RD OCT. AND 7TH OCT - 10TH OCT IS GOOD FOR ME ANYWAY.

Cheers,
Sam :)

Autobarn (Warriewood) have a pretty good selection of the cheaper and more expensive stuff.. Also look at http://www.waxit.com.au/ they deliver within 24/48 hours...

I've gone for a mix of Klasse, P21S, Pinnacle, Meguiars etc myself.. Depends what budget you are looking at and how good/bad the paintwork is..

If you've not already been there then check out http://autopia-carcare.com/ has a lot of useful information.

Readily Available Clay Bars

Meguiars
any supercheap, repco about $35 comes with quick detailer.

Mothers
currently listed at waxwizard
seems to work OK, didn't last the test of time, did the BMW below and a S.U.V. and it was knackered.

Swissol
http://www.waxwizard.com.au/ used to stock it, not there currently

Classic Car Waxes and Accesories in Brisbane

GP Cars in Brisbane

haven't used it yet by plenty of Qld club guys have

Zaino
some dude in melbourne stocks it, works OK
exe for what you get here, cheap as in the US.

3M perfect it overspray putty (that's what they call it) my favourite
again waxwizard but not currently listed.

Waxes

anyone in Sydney will say Meguiars

anyone in Qld will say Swissol

Meguiars/Mothers/AutoGlym etc
Supercheap or Repco

Swissol see above

Now before we get into a debate about whats best etc, here's my 2c

read the autopia website salamander posted, have aread of the waxwizard site, do not EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use any product in a circular motion like you would have on your dad's EH Holden, the world of swirl you will cause and it's nigh on undoable.

Doing it right is the key, not the products, they're more a personal choice and you get what you pay for longevity wise as opposed to results wise.

here's some pics of a Bleck Beemer I did some months back.

This was done with a Mothers clay bar and this Zymol as I couldn't source anything better.

looks bloody awful doesn't it

see here for the electric things and my humble opinion and suzi's results.

for further reference ask Jules what he thinks of the finish on my 9 year old Lexus.

One other tip for anyone wanting these things or other cleaning products they are about 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost in the U.S. with Tax than they are here, just need to be ordered via Autopia or similar which you will find are
all the same company anyway :|

Enjoy

Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.

The Lexus paint felt nice. Much nicer than the bum of the 2.

For your car polishing needs, try Henry St Spares in Henry St, Penrith.
Not only does he have a big range, he also gives really good discounts to club members, as he was the VP of the NSW Club, and is still an MX-5 owner and member.

Tell them Benny sent you.
